Our law group is growing and we are looking for a sharp family attorney who will zealously represent our clients in all areas of family law. You’ll assist individuals in a variety of situations such as navigating prenuptial agreements and attending court hearings for divorce, alimony/spousal support, and child support. The prime candidate will have experience with a range of sensitive legal issues such as child abuse, child custody, and domestic violence, and be able to maintain composure, negotiate, and argue effectively even in emotional and high-stress situations. If you are passionate about helping people navigate some of the most difficult challenges they may face in their lives, start your application today Responsibilities: • Divide marital assets, including real estate, when necessary during divorce proceedings• Collaborate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move files through the civil litigation process• Maintain client files to ensure they are properly organized and up to date• Represent clients in court proceedings as needed• Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation and forming a strategy for a plan of action• Develop a strategic approach and provide leadership and direction to paralegals and legal assistants• Manage full case-handling responsibilities from inception through resolution• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on issues relating to ongoing or potential cases• Draft and review initial pleadings, motions, briefs, and other pleadings• Appear in Court to represent clients• Prepare clients and cases for trial• Interact with clients and work with experts• Cultivate relationships with the firm's existing and future clients Qualifications: • Great negotiation and communication skills, particularly in stressful and emotional situations• Previous criminal justice or other legal background preferred• Active member of the ABA (American Bar Association)• Must have worked on family law issues for at least 1-2 years; handling of real estate also required • Undergraduate degree with a legal background and Juris Doctor degree required• Licensed to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia• Must have at least three years of family law litigation experience (This is non-negotiable)• Excellent writing and oral communication skills• Must be familiar with Google Drive and G-Suite products Preferred Qualifications: • Family Law experience is a must!• MyCase (case management system) experience is highly desired• Estate Planning• Must be a "TEAM" player Compensation: $135,000 - $150,000 About Company: The Murphy Law firm was acclaimed #15 out of 500 of the fastest-growing law firms in the country with 538% growth in 2022!
