Job Summary Provides a quality Pharmacy Technician education for Central Arizona College students. Perform instruction related and other duties and responsibilities in accordance with the philosophy, vision, mission, policies, and procedures of the college. Adheres to Standard 6 of the American Society of Healthcare Pharmacists (ASHP), where the Professor/Director is accountable for the overall quality of the program and teaches courses leading to an entry level Pharmacy credential. Responsibilities * Teach up to nine (9) equated hours in the pharmacy technician program (Pharmacy techniques, practicums, calculations, certificate review, and pharmacology) in accordance with the college workload policy and in a variety of potential modalities (e.g., face-to-face, online, hybrid, Interactive Television (iTv), Weekend College, accelerated, evening or late start classes) on any campus, site or center as dictated by the needs of students.* Provide and present information, content, and context through lecture, laboratory, recitation, seminars and/or other learning venues utilizing a variety of teaching/learning styles as appropriate to the course content.* Employ a variety of assessment tools; evaluates grades and comments on student work in order to facilitate and ensure student progress throughout the course. Communicate with students as appropriate. This may include email, online discussions, virtual chats within Blackboard, instant messaging (IM), telephone and/or face-to-face consultations to provide frequent feedback.* Establish and maintain office hours per college policy. Maintain records of student progress and performance; completes and returns required reports to the appropriate office by established due date. Develop, prepare and evaluate instructional materials. Write and develop syllabi and course calendars.* Review and update course outlines, text selection and syllabi in cooperation with other faculty and appropriate district academic chair or program director. Propose and develop new courses, curriculum, programs, instructional materials, and evaluation tools as necessary to meet the needs of the students and community.* Cultivate development of instructional programs and knowledge of trends, pedagogy, andragogy, and new technologies. Director Functions: * Provide six (6) or more equated hours in administrative leadership to the Pharmacy Technician Program and disseminate pertinent information to all adjunct staff.* Develop and manage budgets.* Oversee the recruitment and admission of students, supervises staff, implements and inform division staff on college and departmental procedures and regulations and college policies and procedures, address students' concerns, and communicate needs to the college's Dean.* Implement the program review process and the assessment of learning outcomes for programs within the division.* Participate in the recruitment and retention of students within the program.* Participate in the selection, orientation, evaluation, development, supervision, and/or continued employment of faculty and staff members, both full and part-time, on and off campus, including clinical settings.* Schedule classes, practicums, instructors, and facilities to effectively meet the needs of students and best utilize the resources of the institution for the academic year including the summer, both day and evening. Represent the division on college committees and at state meetings.* Active member of a national pharmacy or education association and a state pharmacy association. He/she must ensure that memberships in pharmacy and education associations are represented among the program faculty members.* Maintain an accredited pharmacy technician program with ASHP. Qualifications Qualifications: Associate degree or currently enrolled in an associate degree program.Licensed Pharmacist or a National Certified Pharmacy TechnicianIf a Pharmacy Technician, must have graduated from an ASHP/ACPE accredited pharmacy technician training program or have an appropriate state teaching credential. Experience Has worked at least five years as a Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician prior to applying. This position would start this summer 2024 and work through the accreditation process in the fall semester of 2024 and begin the program in January 2025 at the SMC site. The program for the first year will be a Spring/SU program - from there the students will take a Fall/Spring program.
