JOB DESCRIPTION The Lead Platform Architect will work with engineering and business partners across Chubb to lead the strategy, architecture, and ensure best engineering practices of strategic platform efforts for the company. Responsibilities Lead the architecture design of core global platforms across Chubb, including underwriting, integration, API, and other business and engineering platforms. Develop strategic vision and roadmaps for platforms across Chubb. Understand the needs of the platform client teams, and influence platform roadmaps to meet those needs. Influence teams across the company to adopt platforms, and create patterns to make adoption easier Develop flexible, adaptable, modular, and reusable business solution architecture designs in collaboration with business stakeholders and the engineering team that align with Chubb Enterprise Architecture standards. Review high-level designs with the technical lead and developers, review code, enforce best practices, debug critical issues to deliver industry leading technology solutions. Responsible for identifying technology risk and corresponding mitigation strategies. Implement appropriate solution architecture governance processes and tools while maintaining a key focus on design patterns and technology standards. Act as an enabler of Agile and DevOps practices in collaboration with product delivery and operation support teams. Explore, evaluate, and promote technology innovation within the enterprise. Evaluate, learn, and assist teams with open-source technology solutions. Key contributor to driving the strategy and direction for the modernization of the Chubb technology portfolio. Bachelor's Degree, Computer Science or Engineering degrees preferred. Hands on architect who is comfortable working with engineers at code/detailed design level. 15+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture. Coding experiences and skills preferred in Java, .Net, Python, Kafka, MQ, JavaScript, Angular, Node.js, and Azure. Ability to guide and mentor development teams on sound design and coding principles, best practices in API-based, Micro Services and Cloud environments. Ability to work with development teams closely together to review code, recommend best practices, and mentor junior engineers. Experience in application modularization and modernization including adoption of Micro Service Architecture models. Experience in Integration Architectures from Service Bus to API Mediation and Event Bus models. Ability to abstract-up to harvest patterns and articulate design decisions with senior audience (CIO level). Knowledge and experience of insurance underwriting platform architectures is a plus. Experience in Information Security and Risk Management Experience in cloud solution design and implementation of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS and hybrid models Understanding of platform design and technology considerations to build out an ecosystem for producers, clients, and internal staff.
