Our Workers Comp Claims team is currently seeking an Claims Representative to join our growing Level One team in our Worcester, MA office. This is a full-time/non-exempt role. POSITION OVERVIEW: In this role you will be trained to handle lost time claims which lead to a strong and established career path in Workers Compensation. Responsible for the investigation and resolution of complex medical only and lost time claims of low complexity in accordance with policy provisions, best practices and jurisdictional requirements. Includes the input of claim data and guiding insured's and claimants through the claim process and options. IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: Must have or secure and maintain appropriate states adjuster license(s) and continuing education credits Works within defined limits and authority on assignments of minimal complexity Uses discretion and independent judgment in claim handling Possesses basic functional knowledge and skills reflective of study and/or on job development Analyzes, evaluates and negotiates claims of minimal complexity Identifies possibly suspicious claims Phone contact with customers is required to confirm cause, coverage, liability and damages Settlement and reserve authority levels are appropriate based on experience and supervisory guidance May be part of a formal training program May take recorded statements May work with the Special Investigations Unit to resolve and negotiate settlement May be required to have and maintain sufficient home-based internet connection WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY: Associate's Degree; Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent Typically has 1 to 3 years work experience in Claims with a focus on customer service or equivalent related industry experience Technical knowledge in Auto and/or WC coverages Knowledge of medical terminology Basic understanding and ability to read legal documents a plus; such as paralegal or general legal support experience Has positive energy and enthusiasm Self-starter Seeks to collaborate and promotes inclusion and respect Possesses strong customer focus, service skills and behaviors Has good judgment and makes decisions in an informed, confident and timely manner in the best interest of the company Thinks critically and anticipates, recognizes, identifies and develops solutions to problems in a timely manner Operates with latitude for un-reviewed action or decision Agile and adapts to new or different changing situations, requirements or priorities Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to multitask Seeks innovative solutions and is innately inquisitive Ability to deal with conflict effectively Easily adapts to new, different, or changing situations, requirements, or priorities Has an understanding and appreciation of individual differences Maintains constructive working relationships and welcomes differing perspectives Ability to negotiate skillfully in difficult situations with both internal and external groups Demonstrates ability to win concessions without damaging relationships Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills; promotes and facilitates free and open communication Understanding of applicable statutes, regulations and case law Proficiency in using and toggling between multiple computer applications, dual screens and MS Office products (Word/Excel) Website navigation PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Ability to use a personal computer and other standard office equipment Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods Required to work on-site as needed Ability to travel as necessary Workload requirements may routinely call for work hours in excess of 40 hours per week This job posting provides cursory examples of some of the job duties associated with this position.
