Automation Engineering Technician

* POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for building automatic equipment utilizing a variety of functions connected with design engineering, prototype construction and machining, fit and assembly of machinery and equipment, as well as testing and refining machinery into manufacturing. Utilizes devices such as robotic pick and place, SCARA type robots, and end of arm tooling technology to position and align for secondary operations and optical and vision integration. Installation and alignment of defined machinery and equipment to meet performance standards. The role also requires performance of minor assembly tasks, maintaining a neat and orderly work area, keeping walkways and aisles clear, and performing general housekeeping duties such as sweeping and trash removal.FUNCTIONS: * SolidWorks proficiency to provide 3D modeling. * AutoCAD or Draftsight familiarity to make minor updates to plant layout * Obtains supply quotes from outside vendors. * Maintain BOMs for new machine builds * Create operating manuals for new and existing automation equipment * Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel * Assists in the formulation of machine preventive maintenance programs and equipment documentation. Contributes to the design of systems and integrates the use of different types of orientation machinery such as vibratory bowls, centrifugal bowls, servo driven devices and power transmission equipment such as gear boxes, gears and sprockets, belts, pneumatics and alignment devices used to perform a series of motions and hand-off events. * Provides the mounting and positioning of Vision inspection devices and other high technology measures used to define product quality and design criteria compliance. * Integrates the use of pneumatics and hydraulic when necessary to perform similar functions or product movement. Responsible for the performance of various operations used in the manufacture of machine parts such as sawing, milling, grinding, drilling, etc. * Contributes to the design of machines, which effectively work within established manufacturing and quality standards. Responsible for the performance of various operations used in the manufacture of machined parts such as sawing, milling, grinding, drilling, etc. Utilizes blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions to maintain approved methods. Assists in the presentation of automation designs at design reviews, and participates in those reviews. Recommends design changes and solutions. * Utilizes assembly methods and procedures, maintains close tolerances in alignments, squareness, fits, and clearances. * Checks tolerances utilizing measuring instruments. Assists in the diagnosis of machine trouble areas by utilizing knowledge of inputs, outputs, and electronics. * Works with machinery/equipment in excess of 500 pounds and up to 5 tons * Provides technical expertise in the writing of operations and maintenance manuals to be used by others in the use and operation of machinery being built or repaired.
