Principal Data Scientist

Position summary: We are seeking a Principal Scientist to propel our data science, helping to build world-class platform capabilities in analytics and machine learning supporting biological discovery and drug development programs. Responsibilities: Work in cross-functional teams to identify opportunities and implement projects to analyze and integrate large-scale biological and chemical datasets; Develop methods, algorithms, analysis techniques and code to improve Neomorph’s platforms in concrete, measurable ways; Develop techniques and infrastructure to improve, facilitate, and enable analysis, understanding, and generalization for mathematical models applied in the drug discovery setting. Required qualifications: PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science or related discipline, with 8+ years, MS with 11+ years or BS with 14+ years of experience in applied Data Science. Research experience with advanced data science techniques, such as deep learning, neural networks, Bayesian inference, probabilistic programming, etc. Fluency in one or more general-purpose programming languages (preference for significant experience in scientific Python). Commitment to best programming practices (version control, containerization, etc.). Experience with data modeling, SQL query solution design and coding, query optimization and performance tuning. Familiarity with cloud computing services (e.g., AWS) and building infrastructure for data processing. Experience designing and developing data visualization solutions to communicate complex data insights to various stakeholders and support data-driven decision making. Experience developing data science projects in team-based environments, with demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds and job functions. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of biological and/or chemical data, and related scientific data management systems, is especially valuable in understanding the unique requirements and applications of ML to biology and drug discovery.
