Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Mission Enabling Products Business Unit is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager as a Value Stream Owner, VSO for our (ATS) Advanced Technology Solutions Value Stream in Lanham, MD. PLEASE NOTE: This site will be relocating to Hanover, MD Q3 2025. Advanced Technology Solutions (ATS), located in Lanham Maryland, specializes in high performance, high reliability avionics and Space Flight subsystems for Aerospace, Defense, Space, Nuclear Defense and Instrumentation applications. ATS' space products have supported more than 28 space missions over a period of 25 years. These missions stretch back to Apollo and the beginning of the US Space Program and include a large diversity of civil and military programs, including notable programs like SBIRS, X-37B, Hubble, Orbital Express, Space Station, Shuttle, Mars Lander, Astronaut EMU Suits and 20 other NASA missions including four of their early small satellites. ATS was one of the first organizations in Northrop Grumman to foresee the potential of evolving Small Satellite technologies for application within the military, civil and commercial space markets. Primary Responsibilities: Manage a team of Manufacturing Engineers for the creation, review, update of manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, and material handling. Mange team responsible for creating Work Instruction based on Engineering and Customer requirements. Work Instruction creation will specify all operations necessary to build compliant hardware and verification methods. Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to current production assemblies and may develop those techniques. Provides mentorship to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with workmanship standards and engineering specifications. Lead the Manufacturing Engineering team to support the manufacturing floor in a liaison role. Manufacturing floor support activities include answering assist calls from technicians, processing of Non-Conforming Material, performing root cause corrective action, and be responsive to keep production moving. Ownership of manufacturing processes with in-depth understanding of the requirements, process, equipment, tooling & techniques as learned through in depth process analysis, participation and observation. Coordinating the design & documentation of safe & affordable manufacturing processes through cross functional team(s) including (Project Engineering, Tooling, Quality, Facility & Production personnel). Creation of Manufacturing Process Standards to ensure consistent and reliable product builds Identifying & monitoring the Key Process Indicators Evaluating opportunities for improvement of existing processes, conducting trials & verifications for improvements through a robust change process, and implementing verified changes Non-Conformance investigation to determine Root cause & Corrective Action for Process related non-conformances. Developing scope of work and related estimates for proposal activity Responsible for Preventive Maintenance of Equipment in Manufacturing Responsible for developing manufacturing processes for new technology. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 7 years' experience in aviation, aerospace, maintenance or manufacturing/production; OR Master's Degree with 5 years' experience; OR a High School Diploma/equivalent with 11 years' experience Electronic hardware experience Must have led a team 3 or more direct report reports 2 years of experience in leadership Ability to work 1st shift 6am-4:30pm or and weekend support as needed Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field Prior experience operating in a dynamic environment of increasing production schedules and high delivery rates Experience with Siemens NX, SAP, and Manufacturing Execution Systems (Solumina) Experience with Pick & Place machines Knowledge of J-STD-001HS, NASA-STD-001 and NASA-STD-004 Salary Range: $125,500 - $188,300The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
