Job Overview As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best:in:class health care professionals and developing cutting:edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine is recruiting a full time Research Assistant or Senior Research Assistant to assist in research projects in pulmonary fibrosis. The candidate will be required to coordinate and analyze a laboratory project, as well as manage lab safety, place supply orders, and participate in overall lab maintenance. The research themes of the lab are to understand novel mechanisms and druggable molecules involved in fibroblast activation, and fibrosis using a combination of biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, flow cytometry, genomics, preclinical mouse models, and human tissue samples. The laboratory has identified several growth factors, cytokines, and transcription factors involved in fibrotic lung diseases. Essential Functions: Performs a variety of general techniques related to human sample preparation (Blood and PBMCs), and molecular biology (cloning and plasmid isolation) according to established procedures and under general supervision.: Participates actively in developing and maintaining the details of new experimental procedures and protocols.: Assists in the general maintenance of the lab as well as maintain inventory of lab supplies, place supply orders, and track lab spending.: Participates in laboratory and professional meetings.: Participates and performs other related duties as required. Required Education: Bachelor's Degree.: Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement. Required Experience Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline. Additional Qualifications Considered: Experience in molecular biology and mouse studies.: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
