JOB SUMMARY The NCST Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) is a national award-winning program that is the first of its kind in Newark, NJ. It isdesigned to help victims of violent crime overcome barriers to accessing mental health treatment, health care, and legalresources in the acute aftermath of trauma. The TRC serves recent victims of violent crime, including survivors of physicalassault, sexual assault, gunshot wounds, stabbings, domestic violence, and human trafficking.Under the supervision of the TRC Director, the incumbent will carry a caseload of individual clients and may facilitate grouptreatment as well. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical Intervention, Consultation, Psychotherapy, Liaison, Outreach, and Case Management :● Conducts clinical intakes of new clients using a trauma-informed approach and identifies service needs whenappropriate. Assessment includes identifying presenting problems, psychosocial history, mental status exam, andDSM-5 diagnosis.● May visit the patient at home and/or in the community for the purpose of outreach and follow-up if the patient is unableto keep regularly scheduled appointments.● Caseload consists of complex clients, all of whom have histories of trauma, including acute and chronic physical andsexual abuse, and are victims of interpersonal violence such as sexual assault, physical assault, domestic violence,gunshot wounds, and immigration trauma.● Many clients also have concurrent medical problems, psychosocial problems, and may have substance abuseproblems as well.● Utilizes knowledge of mental health, medical, and community resources and maintains familiarity with new programs.● Develops a comprehensive treatment and service plan for each client, integrating knowledge from a wide range ofhuman service resources.● Facilitates coordination of services among various agencies; advocates for and links clients to needed services. Helpseligible clients for social security disability, Victim of Crime, and other financial entitlements.● Serves as a client advocate and liaison with the District Attorney’s Office and Police Department for victims of crimewishing to file police reports, restraining orders, etc.Clinical Supervision, Teaching, Training, and Program Development:● Participates in in-service training and case conferences.● May assist with program development, including identification and implementation of types of appropriatemeasurement-guided mental health treatment.Record Keeping and Administration and Other Duties:● Meets program productivity standards; Completes productivity forms, clinical documentation and other documentationof services in a timely fashion.● Submits paperwork within 48 hours of a session with a client (Intakes, assessments, or DAP notes). Failure to complywith this policy will result in withholding pay and corrective action.○ Paperwork for sessions completed Monday - Thursday MUST be submitted to the Program Director (SeatonDavis) and Program Coordinator (Angelica Maury) by 3:00pm that Friday.○ Paperwork for sessions completed Friday or over the weekend MUST be submitted to the Program Director(Seaton Davis) and Program Coordinator (Angelica Maury) by the following Monday by 3:00pm.● Attends staff meetings and other assigned meetings, participates in training sessions (e.g. inservices, grand rounds).● Performs other related duties as assigned SKILLS ● The Clinical Social Worker must be able to move between different treatment approaches (clinical case managementand evidence-based, trauma-focusedpsychotherapy) depending on the needs of the client.● The Clinical Social Worker must demonstrate cultural humility and a strengths-based, recovery philosophy.● The Clinical Social Worker will need to have knowledge of both Trauma Recovery Center policies and practicesregarding client and staff safety, including mental health mandated reporting requirements.● Excellent organizational and strong interpersonal skills● Demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability● People of color and ethnic minorities are encouraged to apply● Bilingual Spanish preferred
