Job ID: Orbital ATK is currently looking for a Mission Assurance, Quality Engineer to work in our Iuka, MS location. Job description: Support manufacturing of large composite structures for aircraft and launch vehicles. Work closely with manufacturing personnel to solve production issues in hand layup, automated fiber placement, secondary bonding, autoclave cure, NDI, machining, and assembly processes. Learn and understand requirements to determine product impacts and recommend disposition of the parts. Work in a cross functional team to develop and implement process improvements. Requirements and Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related and 5 years of process/manufacturing engineering experience or equivalent experience* Experience in working with aerospace specifications and requirements* Excellent computer skills. Skilled in working with Microsoft Office applications* Working knowledge of MRB systems and document processing* Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD and T)* Working knowledge of ISO9001 and/or AS9100 quality standards* Working knowledge of root cause and corrective action processes and techniques Preferred Skills and Experience: * Composites hand layup, fiber placement, bonding, and cure experience* Functional knowledge of Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)* Functional knowledge of production control systems (SAP/Visual Mfg/etc)* Experience authoring, modifying and auditing inspection plans and FAIs.* Experience using SPC to monitor and improve processes Competencies for Success: * Good organizational skills and ability to work with minimal direction* Ability to multitask and prioritize* Strong attention to detail* Initiative, self:starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence* High energy, results oriented, self:motivated / self:reliant, team player* Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interface with an organization at all levels* Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment
