Job Title: Lead Engineer - Meter ServicesReports to Manager - NY Meter Services Reports in office to Rochester, NY, Geneva, NY, Canandaigua, NY The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from: $101,404- $126,755 Job Summary The Lead Engineer, Meter Services will actively work to position Avangrid as an industry leader in Gas metering, while providing mentorship and support to the Meter Services team. The Lead Engineer, Meter Services will support the metering field workforce in the design and specification of Gas metering standards and standards related to those, as well as technology support for software and hardware needed to maintain the metering, metering communications, and training for that technology. The Lead Engineer, Meter Services will perform technical and economic feasibility studies for metering projects and specification of meters and related equipment for use by AVANGRID. This also includes participation in the contracting process for the purchase of metering equipment. The Lead Engineer, Meter Services will develop a subject matter expertise in metering and communication related subjects as they relate to Smart Meters/Modules, SAP, Procurement, and Regulatory Mandates. Key Responsibilities Develop and approve standards and equipment for metering -the main responsibility of the Lead Engineer, Meter Services is to develop strategy and requirements for all metering technology within Avangrid and to ensure that the technology meets all regulatory and technical requirements. This includes consideration of multi-year metering purchase contracts and flexibility for new uses of metering technology. The Lead Engineer, Meter Services will support reviewing technical proposals for interchange metering as well as customer metering. Design for custom metering applications- calculate loads to determine the proper sizes of meters and metering-related equipment for larger customers with custom needs. Document and track new service metering equipment and manage the inventory at a high level. Use technical experience to identify and support the technical feasibility analysis and evaluation of new technology, services and programs for customers. Coordinate Mandated Meter Programs- the Lead Engineer, Meter Services will create the regulatory mandated meter test programs, coordinate the assignments, and create the reports for the PSC as needed. Support billing related questions to ensure customer satisfaction- the Lead Engineer, Meter Services has established a subject matter expertise of usage and meter accuracy and will work with others to provide data and information related to billing complaints or issues as they arise. Provide technical training to others, including field technicians, customers and other internal departments. Regulatory Contact -the Lead Engineer, Meter Services will have regular contact with the NY PSC and NY ISO as it relates to metering. In addition, the Lead Engineer, Meter Services will have regular contact with meter and meter-related vendors to get training and review their metering and meter related equipment for applications and uses within AVANGRID. Lead Engineer : Utilize knowledge to influence and guide department engineers.Provide technical leadership in most complex projects that have a wide impact on the business.Mentor, develop and support team in technical skills.Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for the team.Liaise / direct contractors on company policy, standards and best practices.Work independently with little supervision. Required Qualifications Theoretical Engineering knowledge - Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Analytic, modeling & Calculation, understanding the business model; Global View of the Business (Values cross-functional collaboration, understands importance of growing knowledge and developing relationships and links across the organization) Practical engineering experience/application - Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Construction, (e.g. field experience, standardization) Engineering documentation - Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation Ability to review and approve engineering work done by others to ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and contract requirements Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment - Local, State and Federal Regulatory Standards and requirements Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET (or equivalent) accredited university/college 5-7 years of experience in related field, metering experience preferred Associate degree will be considered for an internal candidate with vast experience. Working knowledge of company and regulatory safety requirements.
