Ad Astra Diagnostics, Inc. (AAD) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled scientist to join our team as a Senior Hematology Research Scientist. AAD provides rapid point-of-care diagnostics to enable fast health decisions. The company’s QScout™ system was designed to improve health and efficiency. As a Senior Hematology Research Scientist , you will primarily focus on cell analysis and utilize your expertise in hematology, microscopy, and laboratory techniques. This position is responsible for performing manual differentials and other reference methods for hematology sample analysis. Attention to detail is key to ensure quality metrics are obtained. Our Senior Hematology Research Scientist will need to work from our office in Morrisville, NC regularly, but AAD prioritizes flexibility and offers hybrid work options. Responsibilities will include the following: Perform microscopy-based analysis of blood samples. Label images of fluorescent cells for machine learning. Utilize basic laboratory skills and adhere to laboratory safety protocols. Work independently and collaboratively to assist in company research projects. Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures, results, and observations. Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and communicate findings. Contribute to the development and optimization of experimental protocols and methodologies. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Nearly always work within a climate-controlled indoor office and research laboratory. Requires protective gear for certain activities (eyewear, laboratory coat and gloves). Position requires long periods of standing at a laboratory station or microscope with repetitive tasks. Position requires long periods of visual examination of graphics on a computer screen. Position requires occasional light to heavy (between 10-50 pounds) lifting and moving. Requirements : 3-5 years of experience in hematology with demonstrated proficiency in the interpretation of inflammatory, viral, and leukemic hematology samples. Bachelor’s degree from a Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science program or Associate Degree Medical Lab Technology (MLT). Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) certification or equivalent training, with strong emphasis on hematology, coming from a clinical lab, hospital or research lab within a teaching hospital / biotech company. Fluorescent microscopy experience preferred. Assays: serology, virology, can be taught. Good verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail.
