Job Description The Senior Director of Accounting is responsible for overseeing and performing complex accounting, finance and payroll work for CAF. This will include leading the Accounting team in the accurate and timely reporting of financial information, up to and including monthly financial statements and the year-end audit. This role will also serve as a backup to the Chief Operating Officer as needed. Key Responsibilities Accounting and Financial Statement Preparation Oversee all aspects of accounting and finance including the following: Accumulate and consolidate all financial data necessary for the preparation of monthly financial statements, including presentation of variance analysis; Maintain systematic records of all foundation business transactions, ensuring all revenue and expenditures are appropriately recorded and allocated by specific programs; Prepare monthly direct and indirect cost allocation journal entries by program; Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, including check processing and invoicing; Ensure all deposits and revenue are appropriately accounted for and restricted by program when required; Manage cash flow and cash positions in multiple bank accounts; Oversee monthly bank account and credit card reconciliations; Budgeting and forecasting Lead the preparation of annual budgets and, once approved, work to implement the budgets, including budget variance analysis; Prepare and maintain multi-year budget projections for the foundation; Complete special projects and analyses for management as assigned by the COO; Proficiently communicate and deliver key financial insights to the CEO, COO, and President of the Board. Other duties as required; Audit and compliance Coordinate and lead the year-end audit, including work paper preparation and reports for the auditors; Track and manage all state, local, and federal tax requirements; Internal controls and risk management Implement a robust contracts management and financial management reporting system; Support and contribute to the ongoing development of accounting systems and processes to enhance management reporting and budgeting processes; Develop and maintain accounting best-practice policies and standard operating procedures; Assist in the development and implementation of internal financial controls; Payroll: Keep payroll records up to date and oversee third-party payroll processing bimonthly; Oversee time reporting and approval; Track paid time off and holiday accrual and usage; Manage benefit reporting including health insurance, life insurance, STD and LTD. Position Requirements A minimum of 5+ years experience in detailed accounting work, including 2+ years at controller level Bachelor’s Degree required (Accounting Degree preferred) CPA preferred Nonprofit accounting experience Advanced proficiency in Quickbooks Online Strong proficiency in GSuite platforms, especially on Mac OS. Experience preferred in Salesforce, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Ability to work virtually Essential Traits Excellent verbal and written communication skills Work collaboratively with business partners Innovative, adaptive, capable of responding to changing environment and emerging challenges Willingness to engage in continuous learning and training A passion for food systems and a strong interest in childhood health and wellness Compensation Compensation ranges between $90,300 - $121,275 per year and will be commensurate with the candidate’s previous experience and credentials.
