GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Plexi shop is primarily responsible for the fabrication, installation and maintenance of Plexiglas vitrines used throughout the museum for the display of art. In addition, they are responsible for fabric-wrapping blocks, panels and decks for art installations. They are also responsible for the fabrication of display material for the retail department. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Fabricate Plexiglas vitrinesInstall, repair and maintain plexi vitrinesFabric wrap decks, panels etcOperate and maintain machinery assigned to shopOther related duties REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: A minimum of 5 years experience working with plexiglasKnowledge of adhesives and solventsMaintenance of equipment assigned to the shopExperience with PS 30 joints KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION: High School graduate or equivalencyPrevious plexiglas experience COMPENSATION RANGE: New Hire Pay Rate: $24.41058/hourThe advertised starting salary rate reflects the good faith minimum and maximum hourly rate for this role. Starting salary rates are set in accordance with established union rates provided by the economic agreement as established and negotiated by DC 37 and the City of New York, Office of Labor Relations. * Incumbent rates may vary depending on an individual employee's seniority status, and/or based on terms as provided by the DC 37 Local 1503 and Museum collective bargaining agreement.
