Join our community and experience Emerson College ! The Librarian, Marlboro Institute provides essential support to the Library's Teaching, Learning, & Assessment (TLA) department by designing and implementing information literacy curricula, creating online tutorials and teaching resources, promoting information literacy within the Marlboro Institute, and assessing the impact the library's teaching and assessment initiatives have on student learning. The Librarian will lead faculty in exploring Open Educational Resources (OER) and developing open content for their courses; developing open educational initiatives; and promoting open educational resources to the Emerson community. As a member of the Teaching, Learning & Assessment department, the Librarian also provides reference services and support. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Collaborate with Marlboro Institute faculty to integrate library information literacy initiatives programmatically into the Marlboro Institute with an emphasis on Perspectives curricula; and to deliver course-specific content and advise on research assignments. Teach and assess introductory, advanced and specialized class sessions both in-person and remotely. Design and deliver online tutorials, digital learning objects, and other teaching materials. In partnership with the library's Teaching, Learning and Assessment colleagues (TLA) facilitate faculty discovery, design, and development of open textbooks and open educational resources; collaborate with TLA colleagues to design effective assessment strategies of the Library's open educational initiatives; keep current on critical open education issues. Support faculty awareness and adoption of open educational practices to enhance student learning and access to affordable materials. Coordinate with campus partners to identify and improve librarian and campus awareness of critical and open educational opportunities. Partner with faculty and with other college academic support departments to enhance college-wide information literacy efforts. Collaborate with Teaching, Learning, and Assessment colleagues to develop and facilitate Information Literacy workshops for faculty. Provide reference and research services by answering questions, advising on appropriate resources, and instructing patrons in the use of the online catalog and other electronic databases. Schedule may include night and weekend work as needed. Keep current with trends and developments in equity-oriented services for underserved student populations. Serve on one or more library teams to serve the needs of the library and its constituencies. Monitor developments in the field of library reference and instruction to remain current on effective strategies and best practices. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS A Master's degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science from an American Library Association accredited institution preferred; or 3-5 years equivalent educational experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required 3+ years of experience teaching in an educational or professional setting required with demonstrated interest in discovery, implementation and promotion of Open Educational Resources and emerging information technologies preferred 1 or more years of experience working in an academic library preferred At least 1 year of demonstrated instructional experience in remote learning environments required 1 or more years of reference experience in an academic setting required, and excellent reference interview and interpersonal communication skills preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Demonstrated deep knowledge and implementation of open educational/access resources preferred Demonstrated willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills Facility using course management systems, such as Canvas Formal training or coursework in instructional design, academic assessment, and/or inclusive pedagogy preferred Experience creating online learning materials such as research guides and tutorials Demonstrated ability to incorporate principles of inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, and sustainability into services, programs, and collections related to the work of the position. Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment as well as take initiative on independent projects. PHYSICAL ABILITIES Requires ability to lift and move objects that are light Requires ability to move materials occasionally WORK ENVIRONMENT Usual Office Conditions COMPENSATION Compensation for this position will be between $ 55,600 - $ 68,150 annually, commensurate with experience.
