Responsibilities Summary Our Certified Medication Aide, under close supervision, assists in performing routine duties to include medications administration, inventory control and storage or pharmaceuticals items. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Preparing and administering prescribed medications to patients under the supervision of a licensed RN, and in compliance with all Facility policies and procedures and Pharmacy Board rules and regulations. Adhering to all Facility policies and procedures and Pharmacy Board rules and regulations regarding the administration and documentation of narcotic medications. Performing medication administration responsibilities while adhering to all safety principles. Documenting administration of medication on the Medication Administration Record (MAR). Documenting medications not administered on the MAR, and the reason for not being administered. Distributes and administers medication abiding by the rules and regulations of the Health and Safety Code, Chapter 242, Subchapter F, "Licensing Standards for Medication Aides." Applies knowledge of drugs and therapeutics in dispensing medication. Enters medication compliance into pharmacy computer system if applicable. Ensures that prescribed medications are administered as ordered, using the formulary. Assists the physician with sick call and setting up for minor surgical procedures. Observes and reports changes in patient's condition; assists the physician or nurse with procedures under their direct supervision. Assists in the maintenance of a safe, comfortable facility environment; obtains, stores and maintains nursing supplies; cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times. Practices basic cost containment and utilization management for patient care and facility operations. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent certification required. Current Certified Medication Aide Permit required in the state within services are provided. Must maintain a current copy of the permit on file in the facility at all times. Minimum of one (1) year of full-time wage-earning experience as a Certified Medication Aide. Must have current CPR Certification. Must possess a valid driver's license. (Oklahoma State Requirement).
