SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER (Palo Alto Networks Implementation) - 100% Remote (with possible light travel) In order to be eligible for employment, applicants must live in the following in 15 U.S. states:GA, NY, MA, IL, FL, TX, MI, PA, CT, NJ, NC, IN, VA, WI, OH We are seeking expertise in the strategy, design, development, and implementation of large-scale projects and day-to-day operations using networking skills. Specifically, this will be for a large-scale Palo Alto network systems implementation (planning phase currently).The ideal candidate has proven networking experience (ideally 10 years), with a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, applications, and the ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficient. Preferred experience in prior Palo Alto network systems implementations (from inception to completion) PRIMARY TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES /ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Networking Firm understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals (e.g. DNS, FTP, SSH, ACL, VLAN, DMZ, etc.). Firm understanding of Remote Access technology- IPSec, SSL/TLS VPN. Possesses previous implementation experience of Zone Based Firewalling. Can manage routing from a firewall. Can maintain all route/switch/Wi-Fi AP stacks (Meraki, Fortinet, Palo Alto). Manages Mobile Device Management tools. Understands Access and Identity Management solutions such as Active Directory, Entra ID. Experience with Single Sign-On and Multi-Factor Authentication tools. Manages virtual Datacenter Operations based on Microsoft stack (Azure, Microsoft365, SharePoint Online, etc.) Including maintaining VMs. Manage Exchange, Mimecast, Office 365, and Email Integrations. Manage and optimize server infrastructure, storage systems, and virtualization environments. Ensures system configuration compliance including patching, end of life, performance, uptime, scalability within the data center and end user platforms. Maintains Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery preparedness for systems. Maintain virtual telco solutions like Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Manage Backup and Restoration operations within Retention Policies. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for network and infrastructure configurations, procedures, and protocols. Create and update technical documentation, including network diagrams and topology layouts. Stays abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices. Identifies opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in network and infrastructure operations. Implement and enforce security measures across the network and infrastructure components. Experience working with the following: Vulnerability Scanning, SIEM, and web filtering. Recommend, create, and maintain security configuration baselines to be used to harden systems. Manage Server SSL/TLS certificates. Produce an upgrade schedule to maintain OS and applications to current versions. Manages Firewalls and supporting software (VPN clients, etc.). Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices, such as data privacy regulations and cybersecurity standards. Drives root cause analysis, debugging, support, and post-mortem analysis for security incidents and service interruptions. Lead the resolution of complex network and infrastructure issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams. Monitor and analyze network and infrastructure capacity, planning for future growth and performance optimization. Employ exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity. Project Management Envisions, designs and implements the full lifecycle of complex enterprise networking related systems, services and solutions, ensuring their quality, stability, recoverability and security. Lead network architecture projects and provide expertise in the selection and deployment of networking technologies. Collaborate with other departments to ensure successful project delivery within established timelines and budgets. Mentor/Leadership Provide third-level support to junior staff for problem-solving. Conduct training sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of the team. Provide and receive mentorship from the rest of the team. Contribute to team projects within and outside of this role. Engage with and support remote staff needs and education. Because we are a small team, cross training and backup for Service Desk and Information Security will occur. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: Must have a Bachelor’s Degree (technology competency a plus!). 10+ years of proven experience as a Senior Network Engineer. Experience developing and strategizing a full network systems implementation (from planning/inception to completion). Applicants with prior experience in Palo Alto implementations will be seriously considered. Proven ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, and subject matter experts. Highly organized, lifelong learner, that’s self-sufficient.
