Position Overview As a School Counselor, you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of our students. You will work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, parents, and outside agencies to create a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes the overall well-being of our diverse student body. Key Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling sessions for students from Grade 1 through Grade 4. Assisting students in developing coping strategies and social skills, and coordinating with families and teachers to be part of the support as needed. Be ready to provide immediate support for students in crisis and ensure the safety and well-being of students. Connect families to external resources as needed, such as mental health services and/or therapists, community organizations, social service agencies, etc. Deliver Social-Emotional Learning lessons during scheduled times across grade levels to address developmentally appropriate topics. Cultivate relationships with students and faculty that promote general wellness among Grade 1-Grade 4 students Provide counseling support and “case management” for individual students as needed. Take part in duties that support student and school life, as assigned Qualifications Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field preferred. State certification or licensure as a School Counselor preferred Experience working with students in an educational setting is preferred. Strong knowledge of child and adolescent development, behavior management, and counseling techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting the holistic development of students. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds. Commitment to working in an inclusive and diverse community Ability to promote the French American International School mission and values Bilingual in French a plus Salary range for this position $62,567 - $105,598 depending on experience and qualifications.
