National Journal is hiring a Hotline intern .National Journal has an immediate opening for a morning intern on the Hotline, one of its flagship editorial products. For more than 30 years, Hotline Wake-Up Call and Hotline Latest Edition have been the key political tipsheets for officeholders, campaign professionals, pollsters, political parties, and political scholars. This individual will report to Hotline’s editor. Shift will be 7-11 a.m. Monday through Friday.National Journal is a premier research and insights company committed to helping organizations effectively navigate Washington. A mix of aggregation, original reporting and analysis, Hotline has delivered the wisdom before it’s conventional into inboxes every morning. Your responsibilities will include: Searching and curating the morning’s political news via Google, Lexis/Nexis, social media, and dozens of newspapers and other sourcesWriting short pieces of news and analysis for the newslettersHelping to update our polling and political ad databasesCollaborate with staff correspondents and editors on larger feature storiesAssisting on larger data projects like our Poll Tracker and quarterly FEC donor reports Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate: A passion for journalism and a commitment to independent, nonpartisan reporting and writingWorking knowledge of American politics and a hunger to learn moreThorough attention to detail and ability to file on tight deadlinesThe ability to multitask with little to no supervisionA strong work ethic and motivation to succeedQuick and accurate writing skillsCreative thinking and resourcefulness in problem-solvingProdigious work ethic and spirit of generosityActive contributor to a diverse and inclusive workplace Application Materials: Cover letter, resume, and writing sample Employment Type: Internship Term: May 2024-August 2024 Compensation: The salary for this role is $20.00/hour Location: This job is based in Washington, DC. National Journal operates on a hybrid schedule, with employees required to be in the office every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
