Diamond Technical Services, Inc. (DTS) is looking for a Senior Engineer with strong background in Instrumentation and Process Controls to join our team in the Chicago Metro Area, specifically, Bolingbrook, Illinois. The candidate should be highly motivated and have heavy industrial experience. While not required, the ideal candidate would also have a Professional Engineer (PE) license or be open to licensure. Additionally, the candidate will have a strong background in electrical design and analysis. Job Description: BSEE or BSChe from an accredited university program with controls skills Experience working for and in an industrial facility or in a consulting firm environment. On-site experience supporting the oil and gas, chemical, or power generation industries. Strong knowledge of industrial PLC’s, VFD’s, control panels and related electronics. Able to scope a new control system and subcontract supply and programming of PLCs, historians, and related communications architecture plans. Familiar with specifying instrumentation from P&ID level inputs. Thoroughly familiar with process instrumentation hardware, datasheet specification, and selection. Able to work with Process Engineers to create control narratives suitable for creating programming scopes which are executed by third parties Able to create wiring diagrams, panel layouts, I/O control diagrams and select related components. Familiarity with SIS systems and establishing SIL ratings. Experience with exothermic reactions is a big plus. Good working knowledge of the NEC and related industry codes and practices Able to plan and support other electrical aspects of projects including area lighting, 120 and 480V power panels distribution drawings as well as sizing cables and conduits. Experience with design of electrical power distribution systems. Preparation of documents, reports, and drawings from concept through implementation. The ability to communicate both written and orally and work with Clients onsite in an industrial setting. The position will visit jobsites and provide project management support as required. While the position has work balance flexibility, this is not a remote work position. Proven track record of scoping and executing projects and developing project cost estimates that are enough to complete a proper analysis while remaining cost competitive. Work with project managers and other team members to meet project deadlines and budgets Reliable in controlling costs and adhering to required scope boundaries. Able to act as project manager on smaller, less complex projects or work in teams on multidisciplinary projects. Participate in building code research and analysis to ensure compliance with local and national codes. Candidate will need to be able to support occasional work at client sites where candidate may need to climb ladders to reach elevated platforms in order to perform assessments as well as to take and verify measurements for project scope areas Able to travel up to 10% of the time for clients visits beyond day trip distances.
