Risk Managers at Capital One are the front line of defense to ensure our Company remains stable and profitable. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and have the opportunity to work with Executives to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate existing, potential and emerging risks to the Company. Responsibilities: Work closely with colleagues across Fraud and Data, Product Experience, Tech, Risk, IT, Legal, Compliance and others to drive improvement in processes, practices, quality, and risk positionDevelop an architectural framework (structures how teams document work/decisions, allows alignment to destination strategy)Understand the Retail Bank tech stack, specifically in Product ExperienceProvide support to the Retail Bank DDRO and MDSRepresent the risk position as the business sources/uses data in their processesIssue ownership for data breakdowns (models, alerts, etc)Work with the the Product Experience teams to ensure risk position is well managed through improvements to processes, practices and qualitySupporting Product Experience teams as they work through data issues that impact their processesBuilding relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders in Fraud and Data, Product Experience, Tech, Risk, IT, Legal, Compliance and othersPerform proactive risk analysis and communicate and drive action on mitigation recommendations to address potential and emerging risks, gaps or breakdownsBuild deep understanding of Product Experience and Fraud and Data's operating model and the business to provide risk guidance that is forward looking, encompasses customer and associate experience, and protects Capital OneLeverage process understanding to assess risk exposure and implement enhancements to processes and controlsManage multiple tasks independently to meet deadlinesCoordinate work between multiple areas and engage in multiple work streams, simultaneously; leveraging/influencing business partners to drive resultsCreate an engagement model between the product teams and the operation and machine learning teams to manage and communicate riskSupport internal audits, and regulatory examsPartner with business to research and resolve risk events stemming from process breakdowns and provide overall solutions to ensure breakdowns do not reoccurSet direction, manage expectations and lead cross-functional teamsStrategic leadership: Develop business strategies that will drive risk mitigation, well managed focus, and competitive success for Capital One in the face of shifting consumer and regulatory demandsEffective leadership within a matrixed organization is critical Successful Risk Managers will exhibit: Clear results orientation: display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goalsAble to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environmentStrong executive communication skills: impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skillsStrategic thinking and an ability to effectively identify opportunities for improvements in people, process and emerging technologiesA high level of intellectual curiosity and comfort with ambiguityAbility to build and maintain relationships with key partnersStrategic & analytic orientation: a proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on critical thinkingConceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong process orientation, given that a large part of the business is based on being well managed around (often manual) processes and operationsExceptional communication and collaboration skillsExcellent problem solving and influencing skills Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or military experienceAt least 2 years of financial services risk management experienceAt least 1 year of experience in Data ManagementAt least 2 years of risk management, process management, operations or technology experienceAt least 1 year of People Management experience Preferred Qualifications: 3+ years of Relationship Management experience3+ years of Process or Project Management experience4+ years Risk management experience3+ years of People Management experience3+ years of experience in financial services, banking or deposit products3+ of experience with risk and controls frameworks At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
