Abels Funeral and Cremation Service is in our Grundy Center, IA (and surrounding areas) community and we are adding a Licensed Funeral Director to our team. Our Funeral Directors work both arrangements and embalming, upholding our mission of honoring lives and enriching caregivers. Our Funeral Directors quickly adapt to the needs of individual families by presenting personalized, meaningful, and creative ideas to help honor and celebrate each life lived. The Funeral Director role is an integral part of our team in Grundy Center and surrounding communities, and we want to honor and celebrate you, and the meaningful work you do. What you’ll do: Arrange and conduct funeral and memorial ceremonies in a professional, organized, and caring manner in keeping with company policies and procedures. Perform a variety of tasks related to preparation of the deceased: removal and transfer, embalming, cosmetology, hairstyling, dressing, and casketing all within a respectful manner. Build a strong relationship with the community through active involvement in area organizations and participation in charitable events. Promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Ensure adherence to all professional, state, and federal licensing authority, regulations, and rules applicable to funeral service. Experience you need to bring: Accountability for serving families in a professional, compassionate, patient, and timely manner, you have a strong dedication in serving others. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Experience with MS Office and social media (i.e., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)- yes, you’ll get social! Strong organizational skills Educational Requirements: Degree from Accredited Mortuary Science Program plus additional college credits as required in the applicable state. Successful completion of the National Board Examination Successful completion of the applicable State Board Examination Valid Driver’s License Grundy Center, IA and the surrounding communities we serve (Dike, Eldora, Reinbeck, Wellsburg) is a community within Iowa that gives you the opportunity to live in a historic small town.
