OverviewStudent Nurse Technician - Surgical/Ortho - 2 North - LutheranDays, Evenings, Nights (combo of any). Weekend Package Nights.Benefits Eligible Shift Differential for qualifying shifts$3,000 Sign On Bonus for qualifying candidates 2 North is a 30 bed medical-surgical unit that provides acute care services to inpatients and observation patients. The unit specializes in Orthopedics, Gynecology, Urology, and Abdominal Surgery. 2N also can care for patients requiring remote telemetry. ResponsibilitiesClinical Excellence/Patient Care*Partners with the RN and other healthcare team members to achieve patient care outcomes and goals of care, as identified in the plan of care.*Performs specific tasks as directed by the RN and other healthcare team members as identified in the PCT role. Consults and seeks out guidance from RN and/or other healthcare team members, as appropriate and when completing new or unfamiliar tasks or duties.oTasks include but are not limited to: *Activities of Daily Living*Answering patient call lights*Assisting with simple procedures defined in the work area*Taking and recording vital signs and weights*Transporting patients, equipment, supplies, and specimens*Assists in maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe environment*Obtains, records and/or accurately enters data into the EMR. Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient's care.*Verbally presents factual, concise, and timely information and/or patient care data to the RN, the healthcare team, patients and/or family members in a professional manner. Basic UPH Performance Criteria*Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.*Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.*Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.*Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, JCAHO, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.*Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.*Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g., Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste, and abuse.Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff.Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.*This position may be assigned a specific mission to address in an emergency situation to assist in disaster response and recovery as part of UPHDM Hospital Emergency Incident Command System. Situations of critical nature may require and individual to perform multiple tasks until additional support can be obtained. Qualifications Minimum RequirementsIdentify items that are minimally required to perform the essential functions of this position.Preferred or SpecializedNot required to perform the essential functions of the position.Education: *Enrolled in a formal BSN or ADN nursing program to include completion of introductory clinical nursing course with clinical component. *Team members within UPH-DM may remain in Student Nurse tech role for up to 6-months after passing the board and achieving RN license. Experience: *Completion of 1 RN clinical rotation *Six months of nursing assistant experienceLicense(s)/Certification(s): *Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Must possess and maintain current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification or obtain certification within three months from date of hire. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: *Ability to identify patients' needs and implement nursing care for a group of patients under the supervision of a RN/Clinical Instructor.*Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English.*Multicultural sensitivity.*Microsoft Office - basic computer skills.*Customer/patient focused. *Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions. *Ability to use discretion and courtesy when working with patients, visitors, and staff. *Ability to prioritize simultaneous situations. Other: Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. Area of Interest: Nursing; FTE/Hours per pay period: 1.0; Department: Med/Surg 2N- Luth; Shift: Days and Day/Evening, Evenings, Nights , every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation; PT and FT.
