Surgical Patient Navigator

Description:
This position provides a unique opportunity to help surgical patients navigate the myriad of providers, testing requirements, and surgical facilities related to pre-operative and post-operative care. This role is responsible for patient education that is specific to their surgical procedure and surgeon and also responsible for the completion of the clearance packet that is sent back to the surgeon and facility. If you enjoy patient education and are detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently, this is the role for you! Responsibilities:• Educate surgical patients to help them become comfortable with their pending surgical procedure• Assist the patients with navigating the logistics of the people and places that are related to their surgery• Make sure that all of the proper documentation is in place for the procedure• Collect all preoperative testing results that were performed in-house or ordered by our providers• Prepare surgical packet for provider to review and provide final clearance• Send clearance packet back to the referring surgeon and operative facility in a timely manner• Prepare printed directions for patients pre-operatively and post-operatively• Follow up with a patient timely regarding any additional questions or concerns after their clearance appointment at The PREOP Center Qualifications:• Minimum three years of experience as a surgical scheduler or medical assistant in a surgical practice.• MA Certificate or LVN license• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Detail-oriented and proficient organizational skills are a must• Ability to work within multiple software platforms (EHR, Adobe, Excel)• Ability to empathize with patients• Knowledge of the preoperative clearance process• Familiarity with hospitals and surgical centers, and their requirements regarding preoperative testing and clearance prior to surgery Compensation: $18 - $22 hourly About Company: The PREOP Center provides comprehensive preoperative testing and clearance prior to surgery.
