Job Title: Groundskeeper Department: Grounds Reports to: Assistant Grounds Manager Direct Reports: None FLSA: Hourly, Non-Exempt General Summary: The Groundskeeper is responsible for the maintenance of landscaping, clubhouse, and other club facilities, including parking lots. Essential Functions: Use equipment and hand tools to maintain lawns, prune bushes and trees, edge walkways, and give the grounds a manicured look. Operate snow removal equipment during the winter to keep all walkways, parking lots, and building entrances clear and safe. Watering, either manual or through an irrigation system, for the entire campus. Perform special landscaping or planting projects as deemed necessary, such as seasonal plantings for the entire campus. Seasonal placement and removal of all outdoor furniture, grills, etc. Installation and removal of all seasonal décor. Assist in performing regular maintenance and minor repairs on lawn care equipment and tools. Assist in preparing clay tennis courts for the season. Maintenance of the greens for a 3-hole golf course. Maintain the bocce ball court. Other duties and tasks as assigned. Competencies: Must be dependable and able to work the schedule required. Must have the ability to complete tasks with little supervision. Strong attention to detail. Knowledge of golf course operations, preferred. Knowledge of irrigation systems, preferred. Knowledge of and ability to perform the required role in emergency situations. Educations/Experience: High School diploma or GED. Minimum of two (2) years of grounds maintenance or landscaping experience, preferred. Physical Demands and Work Environment: Work Conditions: Conditions described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully and safely. Often exposed to wet and or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Potentially exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic chemicals. Physical: The employee is frequently required to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, reach with hands and arms, stoop, bend, climb and kneel. The employee must push, pull, lift, balance, and carry both unilaterally and bilaterally, up to fifty (50) pounds in repetitive motions. Hearing: The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., conversation with members, medical codes, or alarms). Speaking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
