We are looking for a Director of Estimating to support operations in the United States. This position is able to work remotely or in our Sacramento, California office. What you’ll do: Manage the project estimation process and be responsible for timely delivery of estimates to sales groups within the company. Support project sales during proposal stage by reviewing bid documents, RFPs, preliminary project information, and site characteristics. Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of the estimate. Prepare estimates by calculating the complete takeoff of the scope of work. Participate in bid strategy and presentation meetings as requested. Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating price. Coordinate the entire estimating process from concept through project award and create Bill of Materials for project cost and construction. Review and incorporate historical data from past projects, subcontractor costs, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures. Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures. Develop cost reduction processes and material usage methods to reduce cost of goods while maintaining quality. Develop knowledge of best material suppliers to stay abreast of pricing and other opportunities to provide better value to customers. What you’ll bring: Bachelor’s degree in business management or related programs 3+ years of electrical estimating experience, in solar or high voltage projects preferred Must have hands on knowledge of principles of estimating including budgeting, tracking, change orders for PV solar projects. Experience with battery storage preferred Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control, plus the ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems is essential Intimate knowledge of construction activities, production rates, equipment selection, building types and construction methods Must have the ability to prepare complex proposals with minimal supervision Excellent verbal and written communication skills Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or other qualification will be a plus Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment Demonstrated organization and analytical skills and the ability to diagnose and analyze problems and drive appropriate solutions.
