We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Merchant Underwriter to join our team. As a Merchant Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in evaluating merchant applications, ensuring compliance, and managing risk. If you thrive in a dynamic environment and have a keen eye for financial analysis, we’d love to hear from you! Responsibilities: Application Review and Underwriting: Thoroughly review incoming merchant applications. Verify the authenticity of documentation. Align processing limits with the merchant’s business type. Risk Assessment: Evaluate risk based on business category and expected transaction volumes. Analyze credit profiles and additional financial information to assess risk. Document Review: Scrutinize supporting documents for accuracy and completeness. Adhere to card brand policies, federal regulations, and bank requirements. Financial Analysis: Examine previous processing statements to determine volume accuracy and potential exposure. Make reserve recommendations to mitigate risk. Ongoing Monitoring: Conduct periodic reviews of existing accounts. Adjust credit limits based on volume changes or business developments. Collaboration: Work independently and collaboratively with peers to achieve team goals. Utilize effective call handling techniques for sales and merchant support. Merchant Onboarding: Perform thorough reviews of documentation during the onboarding process. Coordinate site surveys to validate business information. Risk Mitigation: Devise solutions to minimize financial risk associated with card acceptance. Additional Duties: As assigned by management. Qualifications: 1-3 years of experience in payments or banking. Prior underwriting experience in the credit card processing industry is preferred.
