Position Description The Human Resource Generalist is responsible supporting daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) Department including onboarding, interviewing, administering pay, benefits, leave and educating employees related to company policies and practices. The Human Resource Generalist supports the agency’s mission and vision for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Organizational Reporting Relationships Department: Human Resources Supervisor: Human Resource Manager Essential Functions Responsible for assisting in employee recruitment including: Screen resumes/application forms, phone screen employee candidates, schedule employee, candidate interviews, call employee candidate references. Responsible for assisting in new hire onboarding including: collection of new hire paperwork, creation and maintenance of employee files in Human Resources Information System (HRIS) database, electronic files, and paper files, saving documents in employee files, add new staff to payroll system and benefits platforms. Responsible for timely processing of employee status change forms and saving copies of status changes to employee files independently. Responsible for providing support to assist employees to sign up for benefits. Including answering benefits questions. Responsible for preparing the benefits eligible spreadsheet for upcoming month (at the beginning of the current month) with current and newly eligible employees. Including: Send newly benefits eligible staff information on how to enroll in or wave benefits. Responsible for terminating ineligible and add eligible employees to all benefits administration platforms including but not limited to: Unum, Employee Navigator and Navia. Responsible for reconciliation of all benefits invoices, including auditing benefit deductions in payroll vs benefits platform independently. Responsible for pulling reports from payroll system for various reconciliation tasks. Responsible for processing of staff terminations in payroll and benefits systems. Responsible for providing additional information to the administration group administering COBRA eligibility notifications. Responsible for assisting in auditing I-9 documentation for compliance (i.e., expiration dates, form relevance, etc.). Responsible for assisting with Payroll every 2 weeks as directed by the HR Manager in coordination with the Supported Living Director and/or Finance Director. Responsible for assisting staff with access to the payroll system. Responsible for providing support to leadership and employees with annual performance reviews. Responsible for supporting overall leave administration processes and procedures. Responsible for assisting in maintenance of DSHS Background Checks including: Maintenance of database for staff of The Arc, Board members, and other volunteers indicating background check status and when background check expires, Job Posting page . Qualifications Education Any combination of education, experience and measurable performance which demonstrates the capability to perform the duties of this position. Minimum qualifications Proficient in use of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel as well as general knowledge of databases and information systems. Knowledge of Employment law and human resources practices. Through either education, work experience or combination of both. Knowledge of PayNW payroll and HRIS preferred but not required. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Adept at handling frequent interruptions. Excellent communication skills in person, phone, and in writing. One-two years of administrative/office-type experience. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse economic, ethnic, and social backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Positive attitude and willingness to take on and learn new tasks. Takes initiative to problem-solve and bring concerns to supervisor as needed to foster an efficient, positive, and organized work environment. Physical and Other Requirements Ability to be productive and maintain prolonged attention in an open office environment. Ability to work Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM in office unless otherwise pre-approved by supervisor. Salary /Benefits The Human Resource Generalist is a full-time hourly non-exempt position which pays $24-$29 per hour (depending on experience). Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(K) and employee is benefits-eligible the first day of the month after the first 60 days of regular employment. Powered by JazzHR
