Northmarq is seeking a Senior Communications Specialist to develop and execute internal and external communication initiatives that help drive business impact and bolster employee awareness and engagement. This individual will work closely with members of a growing Marketing & Communications team, as well as company leadership and project leads across Northmarq's corporate functions and business lines. The role requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong business acumen and an ability to collaborate and build relationships cross-functionally. This role reports into the Vice President of Communications. *The position is in-office position, and immediate start date is required. *Open to Minneapolis; Dallas; Phoenix; Tulsa; Atlanta; Denver - with Minneapolis, MN preferred Position Responsibilities: General: Support and contribute to the Marketing & Communication team's ability to deliver upon strategic goals and outcomes that help drive company growth. Contribute to a growing, high-performing team while promoting a culture of shared accountability, operational excellence and collaboration across the organization. Deploy news content via internal and external channels, including press releases, corporate website, intranet and social media platforms. Translate complex concepts into understandable ideas and language based on target audiences. Provides proofreading/editing support as needed to business partners and others in the Marketing & Communications division. Team player who is focused on communication, but also willing to contribute to projects across Marketing & Communications as needed (e.g., meetings and events, digital content, social media content). Stay abreast of communication and public relations best practices and help drive continuous improvement within the team. Internal Communications: Provide internal communications support and guidance to leaders, employees and others across the organization to ensure the delivery of relevant, timely messages to target audiences - as well as "run-the-business" initiatives. Create and distribute communications that drive business priorities, build a deeper understanding of organizational direction, affect culture change, enhance organizational reputation and share the Northmarq story. Work with the Communications team to develop meaningful content and news that is delivered across internal channels, including Northmarq's intranet platform. External Communications Collaborate with business partners to ensure Northmarq positioning is incorporated into media messaging and PR campaigns. Help facilitate interviews and provide interview support to internal spokespeople as needed. Understand internal and external business sensitivities that impact communication direction. Write and edit press releases and corporate website news posts. Work directly with contracted resources, as needed, such as public relations agency and/or freelancers. Help identify opportunities to streamline current PR processes and implement new ideas and best practices to help improve efficiency and reach target goals. What We're Looking For: Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, marketing or related field. 5+ years of previous internal communications, public relations and/or news experience. Previous experience working effectively and collaboratively with executive leaders and corporate business partners. Proficient in MS Office products including MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Proficient in AP Style. Experience with SharePoint or other intranet platform(s) is preferred. Commercial real estate or finance background is beneficial but not required. High level of interpersonal skills, including professional written and verbal communications. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Self-driven and highly organized. General knowledge of various media and communication channels, including traditional print, broadcast, digital and social. Keen sense for what makes a compelling news story, with demonstrated ability to identify and generate positive news and mitigate negative coverage. Ability to measure external communications (earned media) results. Work with a high level of business acumen and good judgment. Thrives in a complex organization that values quality work and cross-team collaboration. Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information. Demonstrated organization and prioritization skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines without compromising quality. Demonstrates poise, tact and diplomacy with internal and external stakeholders and/or collaborators. Detail oriented, problem-solving skills to reflect level of responsibilities. Able to work independently with minimal supervision. Experience managing multiple projects and assignments; able to prioritize and meet deadlines in fast-paced team environment.
