Job Description: The Outbound Operations Manager is responsible for the daily and strategic activities (associates, staffing, budgets and processes) associated with finished goods receipt, warehouse management, and distribution in all outbound functions. This role will be a subject matter expert on outbound operations, both in practice and within the Magpul ERP system. The Outbound Operations Manager must have a high sense of urgency and possess the ability to lead, motivate, and direct others. As the Outbound Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of outbound operations, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction. This position requires a strategic thinker who can thrive in a dynamic environment, managing multiple distribution channels effectively. The Magpul Outbound Operations Manager goes beyond traditional warehouse management practices and incorporates innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall performance in outbound operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintains outbound operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures. Proactively identify and resolve issues that may impact production or distribution. Develops and implements contingency plans to address potential disruptions. Use data to address the root of the problem with long-term, robust preventative measures. Coordinate 3rd party logistics when required by customer routing needs or outbound shipping needs. Understand the systematic actions of the outbound operations process in both physical process and systematic/ERP practice. This includes the use of advanced warehousing; utilizing advanced WMS that integrate with various technologies to provide real-time visibility into inventory levels, order status, and overall warehouse performance. Lead and mentor a team of outbound operations staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Complies with international, federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions. Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols. Prepare outbound operations for expected challenges (drastic and rapid changes in demand, new technology, new customers, staffing changes, etc.) and build a system that is strong and stable enough to withstand these challenges. Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement. Completes outbound warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results. Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, correcting unsafe behaviors, and complying with legal regulations. Acknowledges safe behavior. Develops and makes recommendations to senior management on necessary training and ensures the training takes place. Assist in the development and expansion of new warehouse facilities; including equipment selection, space layout and workforce creation. Report issues and make recommendations associated with the warehouse's powered material handling equipment. Coordinate the training of employees and associates in the use of powered material handling equipment. Develops and maintains the outbound warehouse employees through selecting, orienting, training, coaching, mentoring, counseling, and disciplining employees and performs annual performance reviews for the outbound warehouse staff. Work with the on-site staffing managers to address performance issues with temporary staff associates. Analyze various data points to schedule/manage the efficient movement of goods and materials. Develop and maintain performance metrics for warehouse operations, addressing performance issues accordingly. Ensure organization Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) and work instruction documents are created and appropriately maintained. Implements procedures to improve quality, productivity and efficiency. Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of workers. Ensures shipments are processed through the Magpul outbound system and depart the facility in a timely manner. Maintains relationships with carrier vendors and consistently resolves customer issues. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Ability to work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment (temperature changes, dust, equipment, etc.) Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a consistent basis. Travel up to 5% may be required. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Associates degree from a recognized training facility (may be offset by experience). Minimum 5 years' experience in warehouse, logistics, and/or materials management. Experience setting up and building warehouse and distribution operations, a plus but not required. Experience pick-to-voice, pick-to-light, or other advanced distribution systems/technology, a plus but not required. Must have experience with the following order types: direct consumer shipments, dealer/distributer, OEM, and big box. Experience with international shipments preferred. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Expert knowledge of outbound warehouse and material handling operations, methods and practices. Strong attention to detail. Must be able to manage and enforce applicable safety standards. Ability to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks. Proficient in basic math and problem solving. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have excellent customer service skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects. Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills. Enthusiastic, cooperative, and positive behavior. Intermediate to strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.); ability to learn new programs. Experience with tier 2 ERP systems required; Microsoft Dynamics AX or D365, a plus. Knowledge of common warehouse equipment. Experience with Lean and Continuous Improvement concepts preferred; willingness to learn these concepts is required. Additional: This position reports to the Vice President of Manufacturing Operations. Competitive pay rate commensurate to experience.
