Overview: With the growing need for mental health services in our community, Jewish Family Services of San Antonio, (JFS) is looking for a talented, passion and mission driven Director of Development to be the driver for fundraising, donor development, grants and the grant process, and events. Our Director of Development will work to identify and solicit major gift support for the agency and work to create a structure of sustainability for Jewish Family Service of San Antonio. The Director will coordinate meetings, programs, and other elements to enhance positive relations with all donors. Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and oral form, with diverse donors, staff and senior leadership Proven sustainability to work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers, and professionals Be a self-starter Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts, and the ability to prepare clear and concise reports. Ability to engage and communicate effectively with persons from diverse cultures and communities. Be committed to professional development. Be proficient with MS Office Suite or related software. Enjoy working together as part of a team. Key Areas of Responsibility: Manage a successful grant program by ensuring the accurate submission of proposals and reports to foundations corporations. Coordinate and delegate grant proposal writing as best to meet agency goals. Develop and implement an annual fund program to include cultivation and stewardship, discovery of new donors, email, direct mail, and other annual fund programs. Maintain department calendar to ensure timely implementation of appeals, campaigns, special events, donor media events, submission of grants, Stewardship, and all activities are appropriately timed. Develop metrics to determine the effectiveness of each fundraising initiative. Stay up to date on best practices through professional organizations. Represent JFS in a professional manner in the community. Build relationships with community stakeholders. Prepare or oversee the identification, research, preparation and development of government, corporate and private grants, and requests for proposals. Oversee the administration of the donor management software system. Plan and coordinate all external JFS events. Maintain the department finances to ensure that expenses are in line with the budget. Special projects as assigned by the COO and CEO. Be supportive of all JFS policies and procedures. Must Haves: Minimum of bachelors degree or multiple years of related experience Minimum of five (5 - 7) years of experience in donor engagement, grant development/management, and major gifts. Familiar with the San Antonio philanthropic/fundraising community. A proven track record of effective fundraising and existing community philanthropic contacts. Able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy on each project. Able to work collaboratively with all levels of staff, volunteers, Board members, donors, and prospective donors. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekend and evening hours. Valid Drivers license. Must have acceptable driving record. Reliable transportation as local travel required. Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
