Become a maker of possible with us.We are seeking a Manager, Intellectual Property Operations who will manage the IP Ops function at BD. The position will report to the Associate General Counsel - Intellectual Property and be responsible for optimizing IP services, driving IP projects and managing IP systems and processes, while working collaboratively with global IP professionals, outside counsel, BD legal operations colleagues, and legal operations vendors. This role is critical in ensuring that the IP team is innovating, improving, and handling IP matters efficiently and effectively. We are looking for a motivated self-starter, who can think creatively about challenging issues, is passionate about problem solving, and can use analytical expertise to proactively drive solutions. Responsibilities Overall responsibility for management of Anaqua IP Management System, including maintaining data integrity, developing and maintaining reports in the HyperView environment, and supervising, coordinating, monitoring, and programming processes within AnaquaDirect day to day tasks of two Legal Operations SpecialistsPlan and execute IP team projects working with cross-functional associates and external partners to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the IP teamDesign and implement best practices and continuously improve procedures and systems to support IP team strategic goals and objectivesDrive design, implementation and maintenance of IP docketing policies, guidelines, processes, forms and associated projects in collaboration with IP professionalsCollaborate with legal operations colleagues on law department processes including billingEnforce outside counsel compliance with BD docketing and billing proceduresDevelop and implement user training, including user guides for BD associates and outside counselEnsure implementation of substantive law and rule changesAs needed, assist Legal Operations Specialists with their day-to-day tasks, e.g., in view of vacation, workloads, volume, etc. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree, or paralegal certificate with significant relevant experienceAt least 5 years of experience across areas detailed under Qualifications. Qualifications Extensive experience using, managing and programming IP management/docketing software (Anaqua strongly preferred), as well as managing and using billing systemsExperience with document management systems and USPTO sites including PAIR and TSDRStrong process and project management skillsExperience in a large in-house IP department or law firm, handling a large volume of patent preparation and prosecution mattersKnowledge of patent and trademark lifecycle and processes from invention through maintenanceExperience developing legal operations processes and documentationExperience with managing data quality and integrity, monitoring metrics and developing reportsProven leadership experience, with demonstrated inter-personal skills and the ability to teach and coach, and work within multiple teamsDemonstrated success in managing organizational and process changeDemonstrated problem solving skills with an ability to identify issues, develop creative solutions and learn quicklyHigh proficiency in database management, software, and technology and the efficient use and programming of software and technology for organization, reporting and automating processesHighly organized and self-directed, with ability to prioritize multiple complex tasksHigh proficiency in computer skills including Word, Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and AdobeStrong strategic thinking with excellent written and verbal communication skillsFor certain roles at BD, employment is contingent upon the Company's receipt of sufficient proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
