As a Communications Intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting diverse aspects of our communication strategies. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain experience in communication, public relations, marketing, and media relations. The ATLDOT Communications Internship is a professional skills program aimed at assisting the Communications Team in implementing organizational communication and marketing strategies. The intern will work both independently and collaboratively to achieve organizational goals and initiatives related to programming and events. This internship provides hands-on experience in the field of communication.RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities: * Social Media Support: * Assist in creating and curating engaging content for various social media platforms. * Monitor and engage with the audience on social media channels. * Contribute to the development and execution of social media campaigns. * Event Management: * Provide support in the planning and execution of both virtual and in-person events. * Coordinate logistics, invitations, and post-event evaluations. * Story Pitching: * Contribute to the creation and pitching of compelling stories to media outlets. * Assist in developing content for press releases and other communication materials. * Collaboration: * Work closely with the communications team to implement strategic communication plans. * Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities -This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully. It is not an exhaustive list.Ability to have effective verbal and written communication. Ability to carry out instructions and deliver work products with minimal supervision and promptly. Working knowledge of research and basic statistical techniques as well as MS Office Aptitude for transportation, land use, and development-related matters, attention to detail, and, above all, critical thinking capabilitiesAbility to effectively communicate and interact with management, employees, and members of the public. Ability to read, write, understand, and interpret reports and related materials, assemble information, and make written reports and documents in a concise, clear, and effective manner. Ability to comprehend procedures and related information. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum QualificationsRequirements: * Currently enrolled in a college or university program. * Minimum GPA of 3.0. * Majoring in English, Marketing, or Journalism. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Familiarity with social media platforms. * Creative thinking and problem-solving skills. * Ability to work independently and in a team.This internship provides valuable insights into the dynamic field of communications and offers hands-on experience in a collaborative and innovative environment.
