Summary The Michigan Alzheimer's Disease Center (MADC) is seeking a full-time Outreach, Recruitment & Engagement (ORE) Core Manager to join its team. This position will be hybrid, with occasional work in person at the Michigan Alzheimer's Disease Center in Ann Arbor and various community sites required.The MADC is home to a nationally funded Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC). Part of a national network of ADRC's, the Michigan ADRC is leading in its work across university borders with Michigan State University and Wayne State University to support interdisciplinary research on Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. In addition to innovative research, the center at the University of Michigan also provides outreach across the state to educate and support persons living with dementia and their families. The center partners with the community to provide important dementia education in Michigan and seek partnership with those interested in participating in research to join our over 25 studies to make a difference in the pursuit of a cure for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.The ORE Core Manager will report to the MADC Administrative Manager and will be responsible for managing and leading all aspects of the ORE Core team, a research program of the NIH-funded Michigan ADRC. Responsibilities* To fulfill the aims of the grant, oversee the planning and organization of community events and programs to provide wellness, educational resources, and support programs for research participants, family caregivers, and community members. Oversee the Michigan ADRC's Speaker Series and all Center-wide communications efforts, including website, newsletter, and social media content development and promotions. Manage the Michigan ADRC's Research Registry, and lead registry participant retention initiatives at the center, to include providing participants appropriate resources, educational materials, and support programs, implementing regular contact and check-in calls; collaborating with Clinical Core and Feedback team to enhance protocols for (and delivery of) research results. Identify and develop new research participant recruitment strategies to connect research volunteers with Center-affiliated research studies. With guidance and support from the Administrative Core, hire, train, and supervise all full-time ORE Core staff, temporary employees, and interns. Set and adjust rates of pay and hours of work, plan and direct work, appraise productivity and efficiency, recommend promotions or other status changes, handle complaints and grievances and provide necessary coaching. Provide ongoing support and performance evaluation. Schedule and lead monthly meetings with the ORE Core team, weekly one-on-one meetings with all full-time ORE Core staff and attend various scheduled research prioritization and study initialization meetings across center teams. Attend annual national ADRC meetings and occasional conferences as appropriate. Track all outreach program activities and prepare progress reports. Required Qualifications* Master's degree in public health, social work, or a healthcare related field 2-3 years' experience in direct supervision of a team required. Strong leadership and management skills; ability to provide direction, facilitation, and coaching to staff. Experience working in a research program, working with older adults with and without dementia, and with dementia-specific programs, care, and outreach. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and capable of working under minimal supervision with critical time constraints. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience and interest in public speaking in community-based settings Collegial and team oriented. Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and community partners. Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently; experienced and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with ability to shift gears and remain focused on multiple demands. Eagerness to learn and ability to adapt to changing needs. Flexible and willing to take on new roles as needed. Ability to occasionally work an alternate schedule, including evenings and weekends, as event schedule requires. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Driver's license and reliable transportation Desired Qualifications* Knowledge of Michigan Medicine policies and procedures Experience working with diverse, multicultural populations Proficiency in Adobe Suite programs Additional Information Diversity is highly valued and applications from members of groups underrepresented in health sciences with demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities, cultures and the elder population are encouraged to apply.
