Maintenance Manager Job Description: GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Directs and coordinates, through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems of mill, industrial plant, or other establishment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Reviews job orders to determine work priorities. 2. Develops preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff. Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations. 3. Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment. 4. Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials. 5. Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products. 6. Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations. 7. Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities. 8. Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards. 9. Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers. 10. Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations. 11. Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures. 12. May perform supervisory functions in establishments when subordinate supervisory personnel are not present. 13. May prepare department budget and monitor expenditure of funds in budget. 14. Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment. This position must effectively interface with all departments and other members of work team. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization. MATHMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
