Job Opportunity: Head of School Do you have experience as a successful leader of an independent Montessori school? Central Montessori Academy is a non-profit, independent Montessori school located in Cincinnati, OH. Originally founded in 1978 as The Children s Way, CMA has grown into a wonderful community of families and staff who are strongly committed to CMA s mission and vision of giving every child who attends a true love of learning that they will keep with them for the rest of their lives. We currently serve approximately 100 children ranging from 2.5 years old through 6th grade in a learning environment that has been carefully prepared to support the Montessori philosophy. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Head of School to start in the 2014-2015 school year. The Head of School is the school s principal educational leader and visionary and will be primarily responsible for carrying out the school s mission, overseeing the day-to-day operation of the school, and implementing Board policy and strategic initiatives. More specifically, you will be responsible for: Working in partnership with the Board of Trustees to establish, refine, and carry out the school s mission and execute strategic initiatives and priorities approved by the Board Establishing effective leadership and ensuring the board, administration and faculty are included in decision making Recruiting, developing, evaluating, and managing faculty and staff Day-to-day oversight of all academic programs, business operations, human resources, community outreach, and facility management of the school, ensuring the school is seen as part of a network of local, state, regional, and national organizations concerned with educational issues and excellence Providing responsive communication to all constituents including faculty, students, graduates, and particularly ensuring that parents are kept informed about the school s policies, programs, and the progress of their children Identifying ways to serve graduates and retain their loyalty as advocates of the school and as contributors to its financial strength and well-being Staying abreast of changing patterns in the local community, especially those that may affect enrollment or diversity within the school Finding ways to become part of a network of peers who can provide personal support and professional assistance including cooperating with heads of other independent schools to ensure that good relations among schools are protected, especially in the areas of: admission, marketing, faculty recruitment, and fund raising To qualify, candidates must have strong leadership skills, demonstrate professional ethics, work well under pressure, and have: Master s Degree in Education (M.Ed.) completed by Summer 2014 1-3 years of experience in a leadership role at a multi-level, independent Montessori School, OR significant experience leading another type of independent school, especially through a time of transition Minimum 5 years of previous Montessori teaching experience with at least 3 consecutive years in one learning environment AMS Montessori certification at the Elementary I level ODE Certification Familiarity with legal due processes for students with identified Learning Disabilities Experience meeting ODE reporting requirements through the online portal Prior success in Montessori School Management including: selection, evaluation and dismissal of faculty and staff; curriculum and program development; formative and summative assessments; and, collaboration on budget creation and adherence Strong ability to develop faculty and staff Effective communication skills, inclu...
