The Outpatient Services Clinician is a valued member of the clinical team primarily focused on working with GAAMHA clients to develop and implement goals and treatment plans for mental health and substance use. The Clinician will identify and treat the underlying mental health issues associated with dual-diagnosis clients with substance use issues. Responsibilities and Duties: The Clinician is responsible for gathering and evaluating relevant patient information and data via interviews, assessments, and/or patient referral information. The Clinician works cooperatively with the patient to develop an appropriate care plan based on information gathering, analysis, and the patient’s needs and preferences. The Clinician will provide individual and group therapy according to GAAMHA Outpatient expectations and program guidelines. The Clinician assesses and identifies the patient’s learning needs, styles, and barriers and uses this information to tailor psychoeducation to help the patient understand their condition, treatment, and/or prognosis. The Clinician periodically reassess/modifies the patient care plan to ensure that treatment remains relevant and effective based on the evolving needs/preferences of the patient. The Clinician will identify variations from expected findings, understand the significance of those findings, and take appropriate actions when variations are identified. The Clinician coordinates care with other providers involved in patient care and engages with internal/external care team members to assist with diagnosis, treatment planning, and disposition. The Clinician helps to identify health insurance coverage information, ensures services are delivered in compliance with insurers care guidelines, and to obtain approval from the insurer for services rendered. The Clinician documents interventions provided, client responses, and all relevant clinical information in a timely manner in accordance with established policies and procedure. The Clinician will participate in regular staff meetings and group case conferences. The Clinician will adhere to applicable laws, regulations and agency policies governing the disclosure of client identifying data and confidentiality. The Clinician will behave in a way that reflects the values and professional standards of the agency while delivering services and interacting with the greater community. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: The Clinician must possess a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a closely related field, and hold a current license as an LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor), LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker), or Psychologist. The Clinician must possess a working knowledge of 12-step programs, Motivational Interviewing, Recovery Planning, and Goal setting, and embrace the “multiple pathways to recovery” philosophy. A successful Clinician’s attributes will include compassion, empathy, flexibility, achievement, self-confidence, and willingness to be a team player. Must have excellent oral, written, and social skills and be able to demonstrate cultural competence and carry out all duties in compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) and 42CFR Part 2. Incumbent must possess computer skills and be proficient in MS Office and internet-based portals/software. The Clinician must hold a valid driver’s license. A candidate with lived experience in recovery from SUD (Substance Use Disorder) must possess at least 2 years of continuous sobriety.
