A successful candidate will have strong programming skills in multiple languages and database design and management. They will also be familiar with a range of existing industry-standard genomic bioinformatic techniques operated via command line and computational analysis of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) datasets to derive technical and biological insights. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Developing and managing production NGS analysis pipelines that run on a Linux cluster Writing novel bioinformatics algorithms to analyze proprietary NGS data Using probabilistic and statistical methods and developing algorithms to decode genomics data Establishing disciplined coding and data management practices including source control, code review, automated testing and deployment, databases Collaborating across departments to identify and address analytical needs Qualifications PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Engineering, or a related field 2+ years relevant industry experience Expert in NGS data processing and data analysis Expert Python programmer for analytics and visualization Experience with pipeline workflow systems (e.g., Snakemake, Nextflow, Cromwell) Experience analyzing large scale data with statistical methods Self-motivated with the ability to work with and support multiple groups across the organization Experience using and configuring cloud computing (e.g., AWS, Azure) Experience training machine learning models Experience working in a rapidly growing technology startup
