Summary Serves as the Deputy Clinical Director for the Cass Lake IHS, providing physician executive leadership & comprehensive clinical medical care (educative, curative, preventive & rehabilitative) in a primary care specialty or subspecialty (Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, etc.) on both an ambulatory & inpatient basis. The position is located in the Clinical Services Department. Location of services are onsite at the hospital. This position is not eligible for telework or remote work. Duties Provides direct oversight of the credentialed medical and dental staff as the Deputy Chief Medical Officer for the service unit. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates and prepares schedules for completion of work. Participates int he activities of various service unit (hospital) committees including: Executive Leadership Team, Governing Board and Medical Staff. Maintain currency with Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act-Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act Laws. Makes preliminary diagnosis, directs, prescribes or provides treatment, or arranges for specialized care or patient referral. Responsible to see that the medical staff meets all requirements for accreditation by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Join Commission (TJC). Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the , a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. Licensure For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Graduate Training Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. For purposes of this standard, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Descriptions of such programs are described below. An internship program involves broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics). Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training by a recognized body of the . A residency program involves training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by a recognized body of the , (AMA) or . A fellowship program involves advanced training (beyond residency training) in a given medical specialty in either a clinical or research setting in a hospital or an institution accredited in the United States for such training. Additional Requirements for GS-15 For GS-15 -- 5 years of graduate training in a primary care specialty or subspecialty on both an ambulatory and an inpatient basis or equivalent experience and training.In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 5 years of graduate training in a primary care specialty or subspecialty on both an ambulatory and an inpatient basis or equivalent experience and training. Examples include: Supervisory Physician experience with direct involvement with managing, developing and coordinating a comprehensive clinical, preventive, and public health approach to health programs. Developing and implementing guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures. Demonstrate knowledge in supervisory and budget management principles in order to effectively recruit and manage a diverse staff, achieve Agency objectives and manage resources. Developing and implementing data collection and evaluation activities to perform program evaluation. Providing guidance, advice and expertise in a team environment. Selective Placement Factor Must show proof of current unrestricted Board Certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, or Preventive Medicine. The qualifying entity for board certification is the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
