Virginia Health Services is hiring an Environmental Services Laundry Aide for our Coliseum Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, a long term care facility located in Hampton, VA. This is a Full Time position that includes working every other weekend. The Laundry Aide has the following responsibilities: Loading articles into washer & dryer and selecting appropriate wash/dry cycle. Disinfecting/Sanitizing transfer barrels for soiled linen. Folding linen and preparing for distribution in the facility. Inventories linen in circulation. Maintaining a clean and sanitary environment. Following infection control precautions to prevent disease transmission. Monitoring water temperatures and chemical usage. Washing, drying and distributing resident's personal clothing as needed. Promoting and demonstrating positive customer service towards VHS, co-workers, residents, family members and visitors. Performing other duties as assigned. Requirements: No prior experience or training necessary, but preferred. On-the-job training provided. Ability to apply simple mathematical concepts. Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret information. Ability to effectively respond to questions and communicate with co-workers. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands & fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Must be able to perform tasks in inclement weather when needed. Risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous materials. Why join Virginia Health Services?
