Position Summary This position is responsible for protecting the assets of the Credit Union through management of the collections and asset protection department, ensuring effective collection operations, compliance with loan collection and bankruptcy policy and procedures, achievement of departmental goals, continuous development of staff, and demonstration of teamwork through positive interaction and cooperation with fellow associates, members of management and other branches and departments. Supports and promotes the Credit Union's Vision, Mission, Culture and Core Values. Primary Responsibilities Train, develop and supervise the Asset Protection Specialist. Monitor team collection calls and call statistics, perform account reviews, and provide coaching, training, and feedback. Manage and implements the SWBC collections program to achieve collection goals and objectives. Make daily outbound collection calls and assist Asset Protection Specialist to field escalated calls related to difficult member situations. Use de-escalation techniques to calm difficult situations and reach an agreed resolution. Analyze financial situation of delinquent borrowers, document reasons for default, follow through on plan to cure delinquency. Initiate and assist the credit union's attorney with filing claims on estates, bankruptcies, lawsuits, judgments, garnishments, and other related activities. Assure accounts assigned to outside agencies including attorneys, collection agencies, and recovery services are worked according to standards. Manage the Troubled Debt Restructuring (TDR) program by ensuring completion of all necessary paperwork, loan, and collateral evaluation, file maintenance, and reporting. Additional Responsibilities Review, approve, and process loan file maintenance requests and credit reporting disputes. Take appropriate action to limit delinquency in the loan portfolio and confirm accuracy and timely mailing of late payment notices. Track, process, and maintain reports on repossessed and foreclosed property. Review and analyze the delinquency portfolio by proactively identifying deteriorating credit, develop plans for improvement, and make policy and procedure recommendations to limit delinquencies and charge-offs and maximize recoveries. Produce various reports for reporting to management and the board of directors including Watchlist, Troubled Debt Restructure, Delinquency, Repossessed/Foreclosed Assets, Charge-Offs, Recoveries, and others as required. Develop expertise in the core system and collections software and serve as administrator of the collections software. Identify areas for improvement, document recommendations, and process approved updates to the collection's software administrative settings. Cross-sell credit union services by answering inquiries, identifying member needs, informing members of new services and product promotions, and, directing members to other staff as appropriate. Educational/Experience Requirements Five or more years of credit union, bank, or finance company loan origination, servicing, or collections experience. Three or more years management experience in lending collections or a related field. Four-year college degree or equivalent preferred.
