GENERAL SUMMARY: Operates heavy equipment and tracks physical location of inventory. Aids the dismantling supervisor in helping with training and direction, keeps various records. Helps in various areas as needed. Dismantles vehicles. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Operates wheel loader; Safely and efficiently manage inventory of salvaged vehicles. Inspects and performs minor maintenance on equipment. Tracks physical location of salvaged autos. Ensures timely vehicle inspections and vehicle swaps for dismantlers. Assist in setting vehicles and processing small cores as required. Performs related duties as required. May assist in training dismantlers. Monitors work order flow. Keeps records. Enforces rules. Drains fuel tanks and/or delegates. Opens and closes regularly, keys and security codes. Handles maintenance around the property. Makes sure OSHA and the companies safety policies and procedures are being followed. Keeps the shop clean and free of garbage and debris. Aids in scrapping core sales. Answers and directs all questions from the dismantlers, shop clerks, and loader drivers. Dismantles vehicles in understaffed situations. SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: Physical endurance. Ability to work well with others and share responsibilities. Good oral and written communication skills. Organizational skills. Ability to keep track of orders. Note taking skills. Self-motivated. Leadership skills. Basic computer skills. Automotive knowledge. Operate heavy equipment. Ability to dismantle a vehicle. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. EXPERIENCE: Prior experience operating forklift or other heavy machinery preferred TOOLS: None required but a personal set is a plus. LICENSES: None.
