POSITION PURPOSE Assists the Teller Services Supervisor in supervising the Teller Services Department. Implements existing policies, procedures, and systems involving teller operations. Coordinates, directs, and assigns work as needed. Answers Tellers and Senior Tellers questions, helps resolve more complex problems, and assists in balancing. Assists in maintaining the smooth flow of Teller lines, adequate window coverage, and supervision of Tellers, and Senior Tellers. Provides a full range of teller services (including phone and mail) to members and prospective members. Ensures that members are promptly and professionally served. Cross sells Credit Union services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES Assumes responsibility, as directed by the Teller Services Supervisor, for ensuring and performing efficient, effective, and professional teller operations. Ensures that Teller functions are correctly performed and are in accordance with established policies and standards. Ensures that all security procedures are followed. Coordinates Teller operations by assigning work and distributing workflow as needed. Answers questions, solve problems and assists with complex transactions and sensitive member relations problems. Explains policies and procedures to members. Makes judgments (within limits of authority) pertaining to cashing and/or accepting checks or drafts. Investigates Teller out of balance conditions and institute corrective procedures. Assists in finding balancing errors. Ensures that each Teller balances at the end of each day and that all monies are secured in accordance with established procedures. Performs Teller paying and receiving functions as required. Receives share deposits and loan payments. Prepares proper receipts. Maintains an inventory of cashier's checks, money orders, receipts, traveler's checks, and other negotiable items for use in the Teller area. Balances vault. Monitors, orders, dispense, ships, and balances cash. Assumes responsibility for ensuring and effectively performing teller services functions. Ensures that teller services functions are performed in accordance with established policies and standards. Resolves members' requests, problems, and questions promptly. Answers members' questions or refers appropriately. Presents and explains Credit Union services and products to members and assists in meeting their financial needs. Actively cross-sells Credit Union products and services. Answers questions and solves problems for members by listening to problems, collecting data, securing answers, and reporting results to the inquiring party. Resolves member bookkeeping and checking account problems. Receives and directs members and telephone calls. Responds to inquiries and questions if possible or directs them as necessary. Records and relays messages. Performs file maintenance and account changes as needed. Keeps members informed of Credit Union services and policies, including types of available accounts, interest and dividend rates, payroll deduction options, and other related services. Maintains and projects the Credit Union's professional reputation. Maintains privacy of member account information. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination within the Department and the Teller Services Supervisor. Assists area personnel as required. Provides guidance to Tellers and Senior Tellers. Assists with training or orientation as needed. Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems. Provides suggestions for improved service. Completes required reports and related documents promptly and accurately. Attends meetings as required. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned. Ensures that work areas and equipment are clean and well-maintained. Performs procedures for opening and closing of operations, including vault, alarm, and door duties. Replaces Tellers, Senior Tellers, and Teller Services Supervisors as needed. Performs related clerical functions as required. PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS Teller functions are efficiently, accurately, and effectively performed in accordance with established policies and standards. Security procedures are understood and adhered to by all Tellers. Monies are balanced and any discrepancies are promptly resolved. Tellers and Senior Tellers are appropriately assisted and supported. Good business relations exist with members. Members' problems or questions are courteously and promptly resolved. Good working relationships and coordination exist with area personnel and with management. Management is appropriately informed of area activities. Required reports and records are accurate, complete, and timely. The Credit Unions' professional reputation is maintained and conveyed.
