Summary: The Electrician's main focus of responsibility is to perform occasional urgent corrections and routine maintenance, troubleshooting, problem solving and repairs of powered equipment and food manufacturing and packaging machinery. Will work closely with Maintenance Manager and Mechanics, primarily night shifts, in a 24/7 facility to identify problem areas and create permanent solutions. Position Duties and Responsibilities: Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on powered machinery and mechanical and electrical equipment according to established guidelines. Identify areas needing electrical repair or replacement; inform manager as appropriate. Install, adjust and/or modify new and existing mechanical electrical equipment following installation instructions and company or manufacturer specifications. Utilize blueprints, schematics, manuals and other specifications to determine installation, discharge, or removal procedures. Perform electrical start-ups; operate equipment to ensure functionality and demonstrate proper use and ensure functionality. Test faulty equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions. Repair or adjust equipment, machines, or defective components - replace worn parts such as gaskets or seals in electrical equipment. Keep accurate, complete and legible records in English. Assist maintenance department and mechanics as needed. Use caution around moving parts and equipment; observe and abide by all safety requirements. Keep areas of responsibility clean, free of debris, and well maintained. Notify Maintenance Manager of any problems with equipment and machinery. Complete other tasks and responsibilities as needed. Knowledge and Skills: Strong industrial background; prior maintenance experience on food manufacturing equipment preferred. Knowledge of motor controls and motor control troubleshooting. Understanding of VFD's and PLC's. Ability to read, interpret and understand blueprints, schematics, technical plans, and manuals. Correctly use testing and diagnostic equipment. Must be able to certify in required safety areas such as Lock-Out/Tag-Out, Confined Space, etc. Knowledge of the operation of electronic systems and units. Knowledge of the safety procedures applicable to working with, on and around live circuits. Understanding of stored energy and power sources. Ability to work any shift for a 24/7 operation, including weekends, holidays and overtime as needed. Works to improve knowledge and skills as they apply to specific plant and company needs. Education: Education must be of such level as to allow for the accurate reading, writing, calculation and communication of the required materials and instructions to complete the job responsibilities. Journeyman Electrical License preferred, apprentices can be considered! Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand, bend, or move repetitively for up to 12 hours. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis without assistance, and up to 100 lbs with assistance. Ability to tolerate dust or chemicals. Must be able to see details at close range and distinguish wiring colors. Bending, stretching, lifting, reaching, climbing, crawling and fingering required on a regular basis. Ability to use and maintain hand and/or power tools and equipment. Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to extreme hot or cold, steam, dust, wet / humid conditions, low lit areas, and loud noises. Job Posted by ApplicantPro
