The City of O'Fallon is hiring for the position of Accounts Payable Specialist. This position is part of our Finance Team and provides clerical support for the accounts payable process. Our Accounts Payable Specialist earn a competitive pay of $20.94-$31.41(top out). Anticipated starting pay for this position is $20.94. MAJOR DUTIES Reviews and processes accounts payable, including invoices, utility refunds, p-cards, tax rebates, court checks and payroll directs. Reviews and processes purchase orders. Maintains vendor, W9, workers compensation files and e-verify files. Assists other departments with questions regarding procedures, invoices and coding. Reconciles travel and training requests to payments and approves local travel requests. Assists vendors with requests for payment status, tax exempt statements, W9s and tax identification numbers. Assists with senior utility tax rebates, data entry and check processing. Prepares and sends year-end tax information to vendors and the IRS. Performs related duties. Covers Positions such as the Office Center and Admin Asst II as needed. Ensures Compliance with City Purchasing and Financial Policies. Review uncashed checks and send out letters to Payees throughout the year. KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Knowledge of city accounts payable processes Knowledge of modern office equipment. Knowledge of customer service standards. Knowledge of basic mathematical principles. Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs. Skill in decision making and problem solving. Skill in dealing with the public. Skill in oral and written communication. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/ internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
