Midland University is seeking an exceptional faculty member to teach within the social science program for a 9-month full-time position, beginning August 2023. Teaching responsibilities will include interdisciplinary courses in Social Science Statistics & Methods, as well as upper-level psychology, sociology or criminal justice courses to be determined based on the candidate's expertise. Responsibilities include developing and overseeing a dynamic curriculum with an emphasis on active learning strategies and high-impact practices that prepares students according to industry trends. Highly qualified applicants will demonstrate the ability to think innovatively, build competence in technology, and use engaging pedagogy to help students deepen their learning. There are no service or scholarship requirements for this position. The Visiting Professor will have the opportunity to participate in a formal faculty mentoring and professional development program. This is a great opportunity for any faculty member who is just starting their teaching career as well as a more seasoned faculty who wants to enhance their teaching. Qualifications: Master's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice or related field required; doctorate preferred Passion for developing students as professionals Demonstrated ability to teach Social Science Methods and Statistics Commitment to fostering an inclusive atmosphere for faculty, staff, and students Ability to create dynamic and relevant learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to foster a collegial work environment that encourages change and innovation; and an ability to interact effectively and work productively, cooperatively, and collaboratively with a variety of individuals and groups Knowledge of emerging practices and trends in education Experience with leading continuous improvement Experience with and/or willingness to try best practices in effective use of technology for teaching If you meet the qualifications and want to be part of a growth-oriented, innovative, and student-centered university in the Omaha, NE metro, complete the online application in its entirety and upload both a resume and cover letter.
