For over 100 years, YMCA Camp Cormorant has offered spirit, tradition, leadership and exceptional facilities to campers. Founded in 1903, Camp Cormorant is one of the oldest overnight camps in the entire nation. The camp is nestled on 80 acres of wooded property with an extensive beach front on Big Cormorant Lake. We are located approximately six miles south of Lake Park, MN, in the heart of Minnesota lakes country. The YMCA Camp Cormorant offers more than just a job - we offer the chance to make a lasting difference for the youth in our community! Camp Cabin Counselor: Under supervision of the Camp Director, Camp Counselors are responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities and guiding campers in their personal growth and daily living skills Assists in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their cabins, within activities and throughout camp Greets campers & parents upon arrival and helps campers get settled into their cabins Assists with evening programs, campfire and leading songs Sets a good example to campers and others in regard to general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule and sportsmanship Follows and upholds all safety and security rules and procedures 2023 Camp Schedule: June 1-6 (Training) June 7-9 (Mini Camp - All Staff) Week 1: June 11-16 Week 2: June 18-23 June 25-30 (Kamp Kace - No Cabin Counselors) June 28-July 6 (Everyone off) July 7-9 - (Family Camp - Select staff only) Week 3: July 9-14 Week 4: July 16-21 Week 5: July 23-28 Week 6: July 30-August 3 August 4-6 (Family Camp - Select staff only) Week 7: August 6-11 Pay & Benefits: The base pay for this position is $425/week You will be paid a weekly rate of pay and paid bi-weekly Free room and board at the camp - you will need to live at camp Qualifications: At least 18 years old 6 months experience working with youth First Aid & CPR Certification for Adult, Child, and Infant We invite you to join us in this amazing work to develop your skills, to realize your leadership potential, and to discover a career that is more than just a job.
