The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, a historic landmark building in Washington, D.C., has an opening for an On-Call Events Coordinator to join the Events and Meetings staff. This position will be scheduled on an as needed basis throughout the event season, typically March through November. Our event spaces, both indoor and outdoor, can accommodate a wide variety of gatherings, such as weddings and receptions, meetings, corporate events, parties, press conferences and filmings. We are able to host intimate affairs of 10 individuals up to gatherings of 200 guests. This position will act as the primary point of contact and supervisor for events held at the DAR. Responsibilities include overseeing event logistics and preparations by working with vendors (e.g. caterers, event planners), clients and staff; resolving conflicts or problems during the course of the event; ensuring events standards and protocols are maintained, and supervising event cleanup. This role will also need to enforce all D.C. and Federal ly mandated COVID-19 restrictions, e.g. mask wearing, for both guests and vendors. Qualifications and Requirements: Minimum 1 year experience in events/meeting planning. Experience in hospitality (hotel, catering, event site) environment preferred. Must be able to work a combination of two days and/or nights per month during events season (March through November). Evenings require late hours (typically 3:00 pm to 12:00 midnight), including occasional weeknight events. Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to lead and work in a team-oriented environment with a diverse clientele and staff. Ability to work well under pressure, demonstrate flexibility, adapt to changing priorities, and to exercise sound judgment. Ability to firmly enforce rules with diplomacy, take the initiative and "go above and beyond the expected." Ability to move quickly, maintain frequent mobility, navigate around large areas of the building or event site, and in small, tight spaces. Moderate lifting is required.
