NEEP was founded in 1996 as a non-profit organization to promote the efficient use of energy in homes, buildings, and industry in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Our mission is to accelerate energy efficiency as an essential solution that creates a stronger economy, a more reliable and affordable energy system, and slows climate change. This supports our region's long-term shared goal to reduce carbon emissions by at least 80% by 2050. NEEP is based in Massachusetts, with staff in locations around the region. As a remote-first organization, employees are welcome to work in any of NEEP's 13 s tates/jurisdictions in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region. NEEP is seeking a full-time Senior Associate, Policy and Programs to join our cross-functional team. The team assists states in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic to assess, adopt, and implement effective and equitable policies that advance building decarbonization (heating electrification, demand response, and energy efficiency) to achieve state climate and energy goals and create a flexible, reliable energy grid. The Senior Associate will primarily be responsible for tracking and analyzing building decarbonization programs in the region, providing research and analysis on opportunities to grow programs, leading engagement with states and non-profit groups in the region, and developing reports and other deliverables. The Senior Associate will be someone who is excited about working with utilities, program implementers, energy offices, and other stakeholders to grow equitable building decarbonization programs in the northeast and mid-Atlantic. The Senior Associate, Policy and Programs position will be responsible for: Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis to support development of equitable decarbonization policies and programs in the region including: tracking state-level climate and building decarbonization efforts in the NEEP region and analyzing the success of various programs. Policy and Program Tracking: Track state energy efficiency programs and other building decarbonization efforts in the region and provide updates to h elp m ai n tain an inv e n t o r y o f building and grid decarbonization program d e v e l o p m e n ts in N E E P 's r eg i on. Tools & Resources: Assist in managing existing NEEP tools and resources, contribute to the development of new tools and resources, and present on the tools and resources to partners and outside organizations. Media: Manage NEEP web-based resource center updates; prepare blog and newsletter contributions; and assist in the development of webinars and workshops for the organization. Stakeholder Engagement: Support or lead working groups to pursue policy and program changes in the region and coordinate with external partners. Build and maintain working relationships with NEEP partners, such as s t a te ener g y o ff i c es, u tilities, e ff i ciency p r o g r a m a d m i n istra t o rs, and o ther k ey part ners. Meeting Facilitation: Facilitate, coordinate, and c o n tri bu te t o s t ake h o l d er d i s cuss i o n f o r u m s and working groups for specific projects; plan and execute meetings; develop reports, presentations, and follow-up materials. Presentations & Public Speaking: Participation in conferences, webinars, and other events to represent NEEP's work externally and increase the visibility and understanding of NEEP's strategies, activities, and results Basic Qualifications, Experience, Industry Knowledge, & Special Skills A minimum of 1 year of experience at NEEP or 2-3 years previous experience in the energy efficiency or building decarbonization space. Preference will be given to candidates that have worked on program implementation. Experience in research and analysis, especially in energy efficiency and/or building decarbonization policies and programs. Demonstrated ability to understand technical concepts and speak and write about them clearly and concisely. Strong presentation skills and the ability to convey information to a variety of audiences in both written and verbal form. Ability to take direction and work independently, as well as coordinate projects with staff and external stakeholders. Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) Ability to be an advocate for NEEP's mission and vision Must reside in one of NEEP's 13 states/jurisdiction in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region NEEP is committed to an organizational culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
