MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS STRATEGIST Job Title: Marketing & Communications Strategist Office/Department: Office of Institutional Advancement Reports to: Head of School Job Summary The Marketing and Communications Strategist works in the Office of Institutional Advancement directly supporting the Admissions and Advancement Departments. They are responsible for all internal and external communications, marketing, and communication department services at Pacifica Christian High School. This includes implementation of annual communication and marketing plans that define our strategic efforts to promote Pacifica Christian. The Marketing and Communications Strategist will provide expert counsel to school leadership and initiate plans to deliver key messages, ensure consistency and continuity, and reinforce the mission and goals of Pacifica Christian. Personal Characteristics The Marketing and Communications Strategist is a person of deep and mature Christian faith who values and understands the liberal arts within a high school context and can effectively communicate the mission of the school to external audiences and networks. The Marketing and Communications Strategist will exhibit integrity and honor, spiritual depth, possess management and administrative gifts, exhibit enthusiasm and high energy for the task, understand the various constituencies of Pacifica, communicate with warmth and understanding, work as a member of a team, and enjoy the challenge of consistently improving the school's efforts to attract and retain the highest quality student-body within the context of the school's mission. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Marketing and Communications Strategist will: As the institutional storyteller, capture the ethos of the hallways, classrooms, stage, and playing fields and drive the content pipeline to consistently create and deliver compelling communications for the entire Pacifica Christian community; Write news releases, post school news online and through social media, and cultivate relationships with local media representatives to generate positive news coverage; Help develop a strategic communication plan that supports internal and external communication efforts, incorporating consistent themes that support the strategic initiatives and priorities of Pacifica Christian; Craft and drive a multi-year marketing communications strategy that supports institutional priorities and the core mission; Provide marketing services and communications support to departments school-wide (Advancement, Admissions, Athletics, Academics, Arts, etc.); Monitor all forms of media (web, social, print, email) to ensure that all constituencies receive timely and up-to-date information, and respond to online feedback as appropriate; Manage Pacifica Christian's internet presence, including the website and all social networking channels (including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn); Operate as traffic control to maintain, prioritize, and implement all school-wide projects for print, website, social media, digital assets, and ongoing requests; Analyze and react to market trends, website traffic, and paid advertising, and report to the leadership team; Work with the Advancement Department to coordinate print and electronic communications where needed, particularly during funding drives and campaign efforts, and produce and edit annual Impact Report; Work alongside the Admissions Department to ensure a unique and targeted communications plan from inquiry to enrollment utilizing the school's admissions technologies; Work closely with the Admissions and Advancement Departments with several events each year; Conduct demographic and market research as needed; Photograph/video events as needed using a DSLR camera and perform basic photo/video editing, using preferred softwares, for digital and print marketing use; Oversee creative direction and design for all graphics using Canva, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop; Manage and plan department budget including all advertising and publications expenses; Manage, lead, and creatively inspire contract designers and volunteers; Manage the collection of photographs and videos for the school's marketing efforts; Serve as the ambassador for Pacifica Christian's brand and visual identity, including evaluation of all print and digital communication components. Educate and inform internal constituents about the importance of adherence to brand standards; Assess and pursue marketing and advertising opportunities, including developing an advertising schedule in conjunction with each department; Create and execute community based events that drive brand awareness to the external community; Foster relationships and partnerships with the residents of Coastal Orange County and the greater local community; Serve on teams and committees as is beneficial to their work. Other Duties & Shared Responsibilities Embodies and promotes Pacifica's Core Beliefs and Approach to Teaching & Learning . Wholeheartedly enjoys working with teenagers, championing their education, and encouraging their faith and Christian commitments. Cultivates a vibrant culture of learning in and outside of the classroom and contributes to a healthy professional working community. Serves as an Advisor to a cohort of students. Attends and participates in weekly Chapel and All-School Meeting as well as other school-day events/assemblies. Celebrates students' by attending their co-curricular activities on occasion. Arrives on-time, is well-prepared, acts professionally, and seeks to add value in every facet of the job while working collaboratively with colleagues and students to advance Pacifica's mission. Maintains communication with parents and responds to messages within 24 hours. Holds self directly accountable to their direct report and to the departments they serve, and ultimately the Head of School. Attends and readily participates in Pacifica's annual overnight All-School Retreat as well as Admissions Open House(s), Back-to-School Night, and Commencement activities. Contributes to the supervision of a reasonable number of after-school activities as needed. Common Qualification Requirements A bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in journalism, communications, public relations, or a related field; Five-plus years of relevant full-time experience in media relations - including reputation management, public relations, writing, editing, and publications project management in a business or educational setting; Superior writing, speaking, and editing skills; Experience creating and posting content to social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube); Experience working with the Adobe Creative Suite; Experience in crafting and placing compelling advertising content, including print, digital, and broadcast campaigns tied to Admissions strategic goals; Familiarity with AP Style Guide; Strong diplomacy skills, driven by collaboration, and the ability to work well with multiple constituents.
